“Underwhelmed with this place”
Reviewed September 18, 2013

This place did have some good things going for it -- great location, for one, free, pretty-good breakfast, for another. They were oddly unaccommodating, though. We had a few large bags needed for camping later in the trip that we didn't need to drag up to our upstairs (no elevators) rooms, and although they had room for luggage storage, they didn't let us store the luggage there overnight. They also handed us our sheets that we had to put on the beds ourselves. Maybe this was insurance for us that they really had been laundered and were fresh. Room was ok, had a sink in it, but also peeling paint. We were on the street side and it was during Hemp Fest so it was NOISY all night. I had not slept at all the night before and remembered ear plugs, so I slept in spite of this. Showers were not especially plentiful and, while the hot water held up for me, my teenagers dawdled and paid the price by suffering through cold showers. I'll add that this place was NOT cheap, but cheaper than Seattle hotels -- we paid for the convenience, I think. I freely admit that I stay in 4-star hotels for business regularly so may have a different standard than others.

Room Tip: ask for a room away from the street side

I was very disappointed with my stay here after having read so many great reviews for this place.
I stayed here in a mixed six bed dorm with a female friend in late August 2013.
We each had a top bunk which was stifling hot with the only cooling system in the room being a single desk fan placed on the floor.
Two power outlets were available in the room for all six occupants(!) and we were the only two females in the room.
Staff were friendly enough but that didn't make our stay any less uncomfortable.

NIce hostel. Friendly and helpful staff. Lots of facilities though we didn't get chance to use many of them - small library, computers, DVD / movie room. Good breakfast - teas/coffee, fruits, cereals, toast. Ideal for Pike Place Market as it is only a few blocks away.

In 4-bed dorm with private bathroom and small sink in room - bathroom was useful but shared ones were nicer and sink was really tiny. Room was more functional than comfortable. Mostly clean but there was chewing gum on the floor and one of the parties duvets was a bit grubby. Room was also covered with strange scribbling all over the walls which made it look unclean. I presume it was meant to make it look atmospheric but a lick of paint would brighten it no end.

Overall it was a good hostel. We had a "Sleepless in Seattle" movie night and the staff were very attentive.

Comfy bed, hot shower, well organised breakfast, good facilities. Can be a little noisy because of the club next door but that didn't bother us. Hostel is in a pretty good location, you can walk pretty much everywhere or the s system is easy to navigate.

Great Hostel, Great Location, and Nice staff!! I would stay here again!! I was in dorm with it's own bath and 4 beds total. It was nice, great people at the front and lite breakfast in the morning....I stayed 2 nights....much better than the American hotel (HI International) that I refused to stay at again because of it's location! This was a safe place, befter location!

Stayed here for 2 nights over the Canadian long weekend in August with family that included two young children. We managed to get a room to ourselves, which was fantastic for obvious reasons.

Hostel is close to most major attractions & sights plus the downtown core. Even walking from the football stadium at the other end of town didn't take long. The area immediately around the hostel is undergoing major gentrification and felt pretty safe. The hostel itself had great security.

Didn't use the cooking facilities. Breakfast in the morning was basic but good. The bathrooms were kept pretty clean for a hostel and the amount of patrons using them. Carpets in our room could've done with a clean. Staff were incredibly friendly.
