“Not a good choice”
Reviewed September 9, 2009

As I write this, I am sitting in a room that smells of smoke and trying not to listen to the loud sex noises of my neighbors through the very thin walls. I made a bad choice to stay here. With so many other hotels in Seattle, I could have done way better for the price. The pictures make it look nicer than it actually is. The location is good and the staff is helpful enough.

The Hotel has a very helpful reservation department--very courteous--only problem when we arrived at the hotel for a 10 day stay (medical treatment) the suite we were promised was NOT available! We were given a room and they moved us the next afternoon. The room was spacious but never up to hotel standards for cleanliness I didn't think. Coffee shop: In the area known for its great coffee--Tullys didn't make the grade! Next trip I'll return to the University Inn--very accommodating and CLEAN!

Only stayed two nights as in transit to cruise. Found the hotel clean and welcoming with decent breakfast on offer. Shuttle was helpful for getting into Seattle downtown as is a little isolated from the trouristy areas. Very good if wanting to be near the university.

A renovated older property, some of the Deca's rooms are surprisingly tiny: mine had a long double bed, narrower than a queen, and one side of it was up against a wall. On the other hand, the duvet was down, the pillows were excellent, and I was very comfortable. The closet was a walk-in, so at least I wasn't sharing the meager space with my luggage.

The hotel offers a first-come-first-served shuttle in the local area, which I found to be very useful. Make your reservations early.

Free wireless net (yay!).

The gym was tiny, but it had modern cardio machines and a good collection of free weights.

My biggest complaint, aside from the space, was the difficulty finding power outlets.

Unassuming from the outside, the modern interior matched well with the skyline views from our window. $8 parking and convenient location near UW were nice too.

This hotel is very good value for money. It is attractive with the art deco style, some of the rooms have great views, are spacios and bright. The beds were very comfy. Bonuses are free internet and free shuttle to drive guests to various locations, as is the coffee shop in the hotel. The location is great- easy access off the highway and cool neighborbood with plenty of shops and lots of cheap eateries nearby. Nice to be near the university, recommend taking a morning stroll around the campus, it is peaceful and lots of green areas. The hotel staff are really friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

So our stay at "the deca" was great for the value (we booked through priceline and bid $90.00) I definitely don't think it is worth the full value $200.00/night rate. Parking is NOT FREE. Internet IS free. Rooms are nicely appointed with a funky modern art deco design. Beds are very comfortable. Bathrooms are tiny tiny tiny, with old stained tubs, but are cute in their own right with a pedestal sink.

So the outlet issue. It is an issue if you want to plug your computer in on the computer desk or plug anything in for that matter. There are 2 accessible outlets in the entire room. The other extention cord is behind the TV stack and is fully loaded as a result of the lacking receptacles. This hotel was built in the 30's and unfortunately when they updated it, they didn't work on the electricity issue.

The only other issue are the windows. Small infants could fall out the windows. They don't have safety locks either. THIS IS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM.
