We've never considered ourselves loyal to any chain hotel before, but now we make an effort to find a Kimpton wherever we are. When we decided to go to Seattle for our anniversary and found the Alexis on the list of top hotels in the city, we figure we had an excellent match.
We booked a queen room for our first four nights. Unfortunately the queen wasn't available on the fifth and last night, so we booked a more expensive king. When we arrived, they upgraded us to the king room for our entire stay for no extra fee! This was a huge relief as it meant we wouldn't have to check out, move our belongings, and check back in.
The other bonuses were fantastic. As Kimpton members we got a $10 certificate to the minibar and free internet. We had the hotel book our reservation at a local restaurant our first night in town and when we arrived, discovered that the restaurant was gifting us with free crab cakes for the hotel's referral. There were lots of other extras: the water with cucumbers in the lobby, the free wine at 5pm, the fancy shampoos and conditioners. Really we felt quite spoiled! The staff were also fantastic -- friendly, informative, and spot on with their food and entertainment recommendations!
Location is always a huge consideration for us when choosing a hotel. Alexis was a 5 minute walk to Park Place Market, a quick jaunt to many upscale stores and restaurants, and still within walking distance of the Space Needle and touristy areas. We had a great view of the newly built ferris wheel and the Sound from our room.
One of our favorite parts of the hotel was the hotel bar called The Bookstore. Open until midnight, the bar offered a great haven after our dinners and evenings out. The bar specializes in Scotch and we had a lot of fun socializing with the other patrons and staff and trying a number of really fantastic Scotches and cocktails. I cannot recommend stopping in here enough! Totally worth it.
Overall, the Alexis lived up to our other Kimpton experiences. We're so glad to have found this chain! This particular hotel will be a favorite of ours in Seattle!
