We checked in and got our room keys, but decided to go to dinner and visit with some friends before actually putting our things in our room. When we got back at 11pm, we realized that the door to our room was sitting wide open, visible from the street! This is in a sketchy neighborhood, too, the last place where you'd want a door left open. When I talked to the manager, he said that he had only seen this happen once before, and never with an occupied room. But then he admitted to only having worked there for two weeks.

This hotel did not meet our standards of safety, so we returned our keys and asked for a full refund, which they refused. We will be taking the issue up with our credit card company. Worst travel experience ever. We're just grateful we were able to find a different, safer hotel at the last minute. Days Inn was a huge mistake.

Hotel area looks a little sketchy, but proved to be fine.
Bus stop right near hotel, easy to ride to downtown or back on bus.
Breakfast had many items, well-stocked.
Staff very helpful, at one point the clerk at the desk went running out of the office as she noticed a guy walking around a car parked in the lot, turns out he was just admiring it, but I appreciated her vigilance since we left our car there for a day and a half.
Couple of close restaurants
Wi-Fi is free, but pretty pathetic in terms of quality, connection times out routinely from our room which was on the upper floor of the second building (not the one with the office, the one next to Taco Bell)

This hotel earns a "Very Good" because it covers all the bases pretty well, without being truly outstanding on anything. Our room with 2 queen beds (both very comfortable), was in the 3 story structure across the street from the main building. We had the only top floor room with a distant view of downtown Seattle (Space Needle visible). It was directly above a Taco Bell drive thru (also pretty special) and across the street from Aurora Family Grocery, which we thought might be a "drug" store til we went over and checked it out, bought a great latte and decided it was legit. Our room was clean and the housekeeping staff did a very good job during our 5 day stay. The cable TV didn't function correctly until my wife completely unplugged the box and gave it a chance to reset itself. The heat/cooling system in the room is a little funky because there's no thermostat, so you run it til your warm/cool enough, shut it off til you start to get uncomfortable, then turn it on again...a little primitive, but it works. There was plenty of hot water for showers and overall the room looked nice.
The free continental breakfast offers fruit, juice, cereal, milk, coffee and, best of all, English muffins with little jellies and jams. No waffle makers. The guy on staff was kind enough to allow our daughter, who was not staying at the hotel, to eat with us, but swore us to secrecy (sorry dude!).
Hotel security seems to be fairly functional, as they challenged us as to why our daughter's car was in their lot, meaning they knew they hadn't seen it there before.
The front desk people were hospitable, especially the weekday lady, who was very nice.
The hotel's location is a good jumping off point to a lot of tourist areas in Seattle.
Bottom line - would we stay here again? You bet!

Rooms looked recently refurbished with paint, carpet and drapes (which don't close all the way.) Nice amount of pillows, but bed not too comfortable. Roomy enough (but not roomy), good price, (esp for Seattle) front desk woman needs some work. Clean, and appreciated the additional window many motels don't have. Fridge/microwave a plus. Well lighted outdoors and indoors. Might stay again if I have reason to be up that way again.

We stayed at the Days Inn Midtown the first week of February. The rooms are okay, considering the rate -- but the woman who works at the front desk (during the week days) is the RUDEST person I have ever encountered in the hospitality industry. The marketing material for Days Inn states a promise of "warm hospitality" but at no time did we receive anything other than rude, snotty, dismissive treatment. Honestly, this woman needs to find a job that does not require contact with people. We will not stay here again.
