what's not to like? there's something for everyone. Highlights for me: the flying fish; De Laurenti Italian deli; the gum wall; Read
All About It sells magazines in several languages; delicious, fresh food of all descriptions, and of course fresh seafood. Unique shops, worth a look; you can see chain stores anywhere.

“A Seattle must”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

This is one of the most eclectic market in the US. You can find about anything here, not just fish being flung. There is a great selection of food - from fresh seafood to the best donuts in Seattle. The flower stalls always sell fresh, plentiful arrangements for cheap. This is also a good place to pick up little hand-made gifts for friends back home.
One warning - it gets super busy, especially on weekends.

“Great spot”

Loved this place. Lots of interesting sites ... food, trinkets, veg and fish stands, the first Starbuck's location. Delicious meals and beautiful flower stands!

“A fun experience while in Seattle”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

This was an authentic market experience - I have been to several markets and this one was a bit more authentic. There were some interesting smells and some wonderful vendors with very unique items.
Something to not miss if you are on your first visit to Seattle.

“Fun, Entertaining and a Million Laughs”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

If you go to Seattle you MUST go to Pikes Market on Pikes Street! This place is best seen on Sunday as you can find free parking on the street by the harbour and elsewhere on this day. Otherwise, you could pay as much as $8! Pikes Market is not on the waterfront level which was a surprise to me. We walked the waterfront and then took an elevator to the 7th floor to Pikes Street. The elevator opened to another world. The place was hopping with inside stands of flowers, fruit, fish, pastries, food stands and all kinds of items to buy. People were walking and buying and taking pictures. Doors were open here and there to more stands on the street and street entertainment. Every corner was an entertainer singing, playing the guitar (one had a dog in the guitar case) or playing another musical instrument. We saw a grung group, a country singer, a blues singer, a man dressed in all silver, a man with a foreign accent playing the accordian and singing and the best was a guy with bells on his toes, harmonica, guitar, playing all of these and singing (pretty good too) while turling a hoop! Then he changed guitars in the middle of turling and didn't miss a beat. THEN he balanced the guitar (handle end) on his chin talked and did the hoop while turning around. This guy was great! It was so much fun and free! We went to a restaurant along an ally that sold great seafood chowder and souor dough bread while listening to a guy play and sing blues. This was a great day and worth the stop!! Don't miss the fish throwing in the fish stand either! Everything looked great and VERY fresh fish, fruit and flowers!
