The Seattle Art Museum is always worth visiting. The permanent exhibits are wonderful. But the Gaugin exhibit which is there until April 29th is not to be missed. I learned so much from the excellent audio guide and from the movie which are both included. The paintings are breathtaking.
I was with a group of 12 friends and we had brunch at the museum's restaurant which was also excellent.

Saw the Gauguin exhibit and was very impressed. well presented, video was informative, staff were helpful. The Museum is open late on Thursday evenings. The shop has some interesting items and the staff there were also helpful and friendly.

We went specifically for the Gauguin exhibit, but toured the rest of the museum to see just what they had to offer. The museum does not cram items in---it displays a wide variety of art and the only down side is a lack in describing exactly what some of the various exhibits represented.

Went to the Gauguin show which was totally slammed, bus-loads of kids, it was great to see so many people turn out for art! The show is huge but well organized to include native pieces that influenced the artist or which he incorporated in his pictures. His wood-cuts were a revelation. Then a restorative lunch and drink at " Taste " restaurant where our waitress was charming and attentive, finally the shop which is another museum unto itself- fabulous finds! I always leave with something, and the satisfied feeling of having taken my inner artist for a walk...

Even if wandering through museums might not be your cup of tea, there is a good variety of weird 'art' and traditionally appreciated pieces. A nice variety for the size of the facility.
