We loved the Edgewater. We had a waterfront room and our balcony hung over the water. We received a great rate on-line as they had a June special. The hotel is very quirky which makes it different to other hotels, plus the history was fascinating. Location was great as you could walk to most of Seattle's attractions, and the free shuttle from the hotel was available when we needed it.

We stayed at Edgewater in Seattle for a girls only vacation from Southern California beach area. The Oceanfront room is the way to go!!! Perfectly beautiful view and beds comfortable. Enjoyed watching all the sailboats sail past our room. We took the Kenmore Seaplane to Friday Harbor at San Juan Island and then, caught a boat for whale watching for a funfilled day. We felt very safe and comfortable taking our daily morning walks to Pikes Market, a 10 walk for coffee, breakfast danish, and shopping. I'm bringing my husband here on our next trip so he too can experience all the beauty Washington has to offer. Thanks Edgewater for a Great experience!! ( ps I was worried when I read all the reviews re: noisy train and old building, I almost cancelled, so glad a did not succumb
to the general public unappreciation of such a classic establishment!!!

Room Tip: Oceanfront a must!!!

We visit Seattle every couple of years to see family. We have stayed at some very high end hotels in the Seattle area. We feel that it's room prices and star rating are a little overboard. The room was SO tiny (but clean). We could barely move. The bathroom even smaller with no tub (also clean). We made due. We did love the restaruant and bar. It was also nice to walk about the pier, even though it was quite a distance to any place worth going to. The staff overall was very helpful and friendly. It did not help that our room was near the elevator/party room - a lot of noise. In general, if you want to be on the water and downtown, not a bad option IF you can get a great deal OR you don't mind a super small room for a really big price. We could almost love this hotel just because of it's location, restaurant and bar - just wished the prices reflected a little better for what you actually get.

Do not pass up the Edgewater. Beautiful hotel with mounds of history. The location is awesome - close to downtown, Pike Place Market and restaurants galore. Give the Edgewater a try - I do not think you will be dissappointed.

Room 232 -waterside
The hotel has an enviable waterfront location, walking-close, for most folks, to downtown
attractions and transportation. Our room was an interesting blend of northwest lodge
and modern/cool (bath-no tub though).A very clean room with niceities including
gas fireplace, a useable deck, mini-frig, coffee maker with above-average coffee, and
large screen tv. One hardly needs the tv as the views are great and ever changing with the
bay, downtown & west Seattle, and port as backdrop to many boats/ships of all types
passing by. The daily room service was thorough; a minor plumbing concern was
immediately addressed. For our taste, the interiors-public as well as the room were
much more pleasing than the exterior. The hotel is old enough that it is showing some
wear on some fixtures and surfaces(e.g. bedside lamps badly scratched with brass
plating worn away and hallway door trim badly scratched). Be prepared for the $34/day
on-site parking fee as all other near-by parking is either short-term meter or across
busy Alaskan Way in a cheaper multi-story parking garage.

Room Tip: go for waterside with a deck; farther NW best view

We agree with your comment that she is an Oldie but a Goodie and thank you for your posting. Just want to make one comment about the parking as we have addressed this many times in the past. All downtown hotels in Seattle charge for parking as in almost every major city in the United States. We are on the low end of the price range in this market. There is parking available across the street but they do not allow in and out privileges like we do so the cost can add up quickly if you do use your car during your stay.
Again, thank you for your posting and hope to see you back soon.

We attended a wedding at the Edgewater Hotel in June. It was amazing! Seattle had so much to offer and the Edgewater was so unexpected and exciting.

The wedding as great, but I was blowen away by the interior design on the common areas. Such a fun city and great Hotel!

Do spring for the Water Front room, they are leap and bounds above the City Side.

Room Tip: Anything Water Side
