“Great Thanksgiving Spot”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2013

This place has 1) a great Thanksgiving diner, 2) located in easy walking distance to all the downtown stores, restaurants, and bars. 3) One block from the fireworks and festivities of opening Christmas season. 4) Shop till you drop then walk to your hotel for a good nights sleep.

Room Tip: If you want to spend a couple more dollars the club floor is the best.

Having been to Seattle twice before we wanted to stay more central and this was ideal. A large hotel which although it turns out used by the cruise lines did not seem crowded. Had a clean, well equpped comfortable room on a high floor. The concierge were helpful and most staff were friendly. I did however have trouble booking the hotel, it showed no rooms on the hotel website and they said they were full when I called reservations? However it showed availability on a travel site, so had to book through them and although told at checkin I would get my SPG POINTS was told at Check out I wouldn't because I had booked through Expedia, so not too happy about that! I did explain it was the only way I was able to book a room with them but they weren't bothered!! Got charged to park the motorbike overnight!!!

I visit Seattle several times a year to visit my son who is at UW. I have tried the other Starwood properties in Seattle including the W and Westin and I was quite surprised that Sheraton just does a better job, especially for Platinum guests. I have always been provided an upgrade to a suite, this latest one was a huge place triple-to-quadrruple the size of a regular room with dining table, living room, kitchenette, tons of free water bottles, Italian water, a fruit basket, and a picture book about Seattle. I am almost embarrassed to be treated so well considering the low cost of the room. It is located conveniently right off I5, you can't miss it. Valet is very efficient and a good value considering what you get at other hotels in the area.

Room Tip: They are all good rooms, that's just one of the many things that makes this place so good.

Check in to the Sheraton Seattle and the front desk staff will advise you that the Sheraton is a "green hotel." If you agree to have no housekeeping services, you will receive a credit for hotel food/beverage or, in the alternative, you may elect to receive SPG points. What to do? Who doesn't what to "go green?" Think about it, however. The property has 1258 rooms. If the hotel is 70% occupied and 20% of the guests elect to forgo housekeeping services, approximately 176 rooms need not be cleaned. That is a lot of housekeepers that will not be needed. Why not invite guests to reuse their towels and not change their linens but still "tidy up" the room? Doesn't that accomplish the same "green" requirements? There is something to be said about checking in to an upscale hotel and having your room made up. Isn't that what a vacation or trip away from home is all about? What's next? How about additional food/beverage credits or SPG points if you vacuum your room, clean the bathroom, take out the trash? Perhaps guests can prepare their own meals in the kitchen or, if you are not so terrific in the kitchen, you can wash dishers for 2,000 SPG points. Interesting dichotomy. You decide. I vote to keep housekeepers employed. I'll refrain from throwing towels on the bathroom floor and reuse them for a few days but that's it.

Other:

Good: very attentive staff. Beds are terrific.
Not so good: desk lighting, limited functioning electrical plugs (none on desk), noise in corner room, Pike Tower

Room Tip: If you are seeking a quiet room, I would ask about room in the Union Tower (if they are quieter than...

Well located next to conference centre and downtown area. Good free wifi in public areas; free but limited in bedroom. Excellent large sitting area in lobby. Beware of $5 offer to be green and not have sheets changed - also means no room cleaning, though this is not made clear on the offer.

We enjoy the Sheraton for its location, top floor pool, The Grill restaurant, clean rooms and safe feeling.
Valet parking is a hefty fee, so be prepared.
They do charge extra if you want access to the mini fridge.
The top level pool is fun, up in the clouds but fully enclosed with many windows, hot tub, too.
Quiet rooms, friendly staff, no problems.
Beds are a bit on the firm side.
We've stayed a few times in the Union tower, and once in the Pike; I think the Union rooms are more spacious, so I would ask for a room there.
Great art in the lobby, Jacob Lawrence, plus some others.

Room Tip: Union tower room may be larger than Pike.

Looking to get out of Vancouver for a few days between Christmas and New Years, a friend and I decided to head down to Seattle. I left the hotel selection and booking to my friend, and I believe he used hotwire.com and got a great rate for the Sheraton.

Location wise; this hotel is great. It’s super easy to go if you are driving into the city, and it’s a fantastic set up for walking and shopping. There is a parkade across the street from the hotel (not sure of the costs), but we decided to just valet the car. The valet service was good, but not cheap ($35/day).

When we walked into the hotel, it was PACKED. It ends up there was a religious youth group convention happening that weekend, but even in the apparent chaos, the staff did a great job getting everyone in a line and checking people in as quickly as possible. Our room was a standard room, but very nice. It was large, the washroom was nice, and had a nice flat screen TV. Also, with that many kids in the hotel, I expected to hear them in the hallways and through the walls, but I was pleasantly surprised with the soundproofing.

What made the experience really amazing was two things: 1) the Sheraton holds the Annual Gingerbread Village, and it was an amazing site! It was busy during the day, but we walked through it one night on our way home from dinner around 11pm and it was fantastic (by donation). 2) the concierge service was AMAZING! We went to the desk for recommendations on dinner, breakfast, and touristy things to see, and we were blown away by ALL of the suggestions. The ladies really know their stuff!

5 minute walk to all department store shopping; 10 minute walk to the Pier, and very central for all other walking.

Note: If you have not done the Seattle Underground Tour, we HIGHLY recommend it. It was a fantastic experience and makes for some really neat photos!
