Located a couple of blocks up from the Pike Public Market, the Moore seemed a little iffy on first approach but the character of the old building and the friendly staff alleviated my worries. My daughter and I got a room with a shared bathroom, dorm style; although it was not really a problem using the restroom when we needed it, it was inconvenient first thing in the morning.

The room was basic, clean and although smelled slightly musty, the window opened to let in the breeze. The bed was comfortable enough, the comforter a little on the thin side. The door knobs are the old fashioned ones with the keyhole, also a deadbolt and chain and felt pretty safe. There is currently construction across the street during the daytime, if that matters to you request a room on the back side of the hotel. We stayed one night only and although the hotel was supposedly full, we barely saw or heard anyone else in the halls.

It is an old place and I guess if you let your imagination run wild (no Stephen King on this stay!) it might seem creepy but I found it interesting. The stairs are a good alternative to the small, slowish elevator but watch your step, the steps are tall and steep. The Moore is an affordable place to rest your head but don't expect chain-hotel amenities or extras.

Although quite a long walk from the railway station where we arrived from, the Moore Hotel is reasonably priced and a good choice. It has a small lift which is important if you are on the 6th floor like we were, and retains the old technology if an actual door key. The free Wifi in our room was intermittent. Loved the touch of the bathroom towells folded origami style and arranged to look like a bear or perhaps they new we were Australian and it was a koala. Fabulous location for the happy hours in the bars in Belltown, and a short walk down to pier 69 the following morning to get the Victoria Ferry.

I used to live in Seattle and was always curious about this hotel, as I would not usually think of staying there. However on a recent trip back to Seattle, I decided to try it out given the low cost for a really great location. The room was as expected- it had been updated, but keep in mind that it is an older building so that can show in some places (bathroom and furniture especially). I really didn't mind staying here, but then again, I am not as picky as some! (PS- the mattresses were better than those at the Marriott Waterfront which I stayed in the week prior- and MUCH more expensive!)

Room Tip: I would make sure to pay the few extra bucks for a private bathroom, otherwise there are common ones that can be used. I would also ask to be furthest from the theater if there is a concert scheduled!

This is an old hotel that has been updated with redecoration, but the bones of it remain original and somewhat creepy--not quaint as their website suggests.

The dimly lit elevator holds only 2 people if they have luggage. The claw-foot bathtub is quaint, but difficult to enter and exit, and the wrap-around shower curtain is easily bumped out and creates a puddle on the floor. Lots of street noise comes through the windows, and the curtains don't overlap so some light always comes through.

The old doorknob felt like it could be pulled off. The room phone was from the 1970s, the small TV was from the 1990s.

On the plus side, the room was huge, very clean, had 2 large windows and a large closet. Likewise, the bathroom was very big and I appreciated the towel animal on the toilet tank. The downtown location was perfectly situated for a short walk to Pike's Market and the waterfront.

Our room had its own bathroom, but be aware that some of the rooms they offer are "European style", which means " you're a-peein' " down the hall in a shared bathroom and priced accordingly. Make sure you verify when booking.

Evening staff at check-in could have been more friendly and welcoming, but the morning staff at check-out were helpful.

OK for one night, but I would not return.

The pros are few: inexpensive for the area and comfortable beds. The cons are many: no bar, no restaurant, an ugly, uncomfortable lobby, no proper desk service (could never get an iron or ironing board over a three-night stay), and a creepy atmosphere overall. I was surprised that Expedia had them as an option.
