“Nice place to lay your head”
Reviewed May 16, 2013

But not the nicest hotel in town. It was very old fashioned and noises could be heard easily. All in all, it served the purpose of being a nice place to sleep and then walk three blocks to Pike's on the waterfront.

Super convenient location, felt very safe there travelling alone. Not a huge room but extremely clean and nicely fit out. The room was quiet, I had a variety of different channels to watch on my television (good because I was staying in at night rather than being out on the town alone midweek), the staff were so, so, so lovely and overall it was great value for money. When I was checking out, one of the staff members was dealing with someone making a cancellation because there was no air-conditioning and it would be 'too hot' in Seattle - all I can say is, you missed out, because this hotel is great (and how hot does Seattle ever get anyway, really?). For what it is - 5 stars.

Very convenient location within an easy walk of the Public Market and the dining and clubs of Belltown. In a city center where rates generally start at $250, the Moore at either side of $100 is an absolute STEAL!
It's a beautiful historic hotel with high ceilings, solid walls, and very attractive decor. It's a bit austere, but perhaps that's in keeping with the ambiance. We booked the QQ with bath and got a VERY large room with one bureau and one chair - LOTS of floor space that could have been used for a welcome table, better yet, a second chair? The bathroom had a smallish shower with good water pressure and spray and the towels were thick and soft. A towel rack or hook near the sink and/or within reach of the shower would have been helpful, and the bath tissue was an awkward reach from the seat. The walls are solid enough that we never heard a peep from the corridor or neighbors, but you will get noise from the street. Our room was on the 2nd Ave side and there is a huge construction project across the street. The beeping of reversing trucks began at 7am.
Robert at the desk was very helpful and informative. Instead of getting the all-too-frequent "I don't eat out much" or "I'm new here" when asking for restaurant recommendations, we got a TON of information about menu choices, ambiance, and pricing.
I would definitely stay again!!!

Room Tip: If you're planning to sleep past 7am, or unaccustomed to city noise, you may want to ask if ther...

Clean enough hotel with a very "classic" feel to it. If you are looking for a really nice hotel with all the amenities (wall outlets, air conditioning, etc.), then this is NOT the place for you. However, if you are looking for a solid hotel, clean room, clean bed, right down town at a good price, and don't mind having to deal with a 100 year old hotel, this place can't be beat. It is right in the heart of everything Seattle and the location cannot be overstated. Being young and on a budget, we walked everywhere we wanted to see (30 minute walk to the space needle, 30 minute walk to safeco field, 3 minute walk to pike place, and everywhere inbetween).

Just as everyone said, it is not a hotel built for the noise of this century and if you have a hard time drowning out traffic to sleep, than this hotel may not be your cup.

Overall, the hotel is eclectic with eclectic floor designs, eclectic rooms, and eclectic staff. It really enhances the experience of Seattle as the eclectic city that it is.

We stayed at the Moore for three nights and found our accommodations fine. We hit a May heat wave in Seattle so spent most of our time out exploring the city. We had a queen room with private bath. The room was a decent size with a large closet and the bathroom was adequate. Our view was a brick wall, but not looking out on the street probably made for a quieter night. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. There was a good place for coffee, muffins and yogurt right in the hotel. This hotel has no frills, but the price and location were what made this a good place to stay. The hotel is able to give a $15/day parking fee at a parking complex about a block away. We never took our car out the whole time we were there since we kept busy going to places within walking distance from the Moore, such as Pike Market, SAM, Pioner Square and the waterfront.

For a cheap and clean hotel 5 minutes walk from Pike Place, this is it. I have been returning here for nine years on my annual visit and it suits me fine, clean sheets and a comfortable bed.
There are no mini bars, room service or even flat screen TV's, but who wants to sit in a room when Seattle is outside the window.

I wanted to love this hotel, but it simply gets some of the little things wrong.

Great location: a block or two from the Pike Place Market; near to the Monorail (great for exploring the Space Needle and surrounds); on a good street; reasonably close to the Victoria Clipper ferry; etc.

Great aesthetics, this hotel presumably has quite a history, and it's retained some charmed in the recent upgrade. Looks beautiful.

GREAT staff. Couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. All of them. Best I've encountered at any hotel in the USA or Canada.

However, it gets a few little details wrong, and these are frustrating. The shower heads, whilst beautiful large elegant units, are too large for the small shower - you can't angle the water spray down enough, you can't get under the head. The water faucet barely reaches into the (beautiful but too large) sink. The bathroom is rather tiny overall. The TV isn't really located for a great viewing angle whilst in bed. Some of the rooms near the road are noisy. And the beds, oh the beds - possibly the hardest bed I've ever encountered. I awoke every couple of hours needing to roll over with with sore hips.

It was great value, but I'd struggle to stay again. If bathroom facilities don't bother you too much, and you can handle a hard bed, it would the perfect hotel. Consider these details, and the book it. :)

Room Tip: Round the back, away from the main road.
