It is just a short cab ride to dowtown or if you can walk maybe 8 to Seattle Center and you can catch the monorail downtown. So many great restaurants within blocks, spendy or cheap. We used the grocery store just a block away to take advantage of the in room kitchen. It is a beautifully remodeled old building that is a real change from standard hotel rooms. Beds were very comfortable, just don't probably want to sleep on the pull out bed, but very comfortable, cozy sitting area. Staff was always pleasant and helpful.

Pros: cute neighborhood north of downtown; easy walk to Seattle Center and while not that short, pretty easy walk to downtown; historic hotel; large room , comfortable bed, more like an apartment w/a eat-in kitchen (fridg, microwave, table, no stove). Great shower. Very nice staff.
Cons: We rented a suite so that my daughter could sleep on the pullout couch. My daughter is definitely NOT fussy -- she has slept in all kinds of primitive conditions--however, she could not sleep on the couch-- when we opened it up the mattress was extremely thin, flimsy--not something you could sleep on-- also, the sheets we were provided did not fit on the bed.
In conclusion, if you stay at the Marqueen and don't need to use a pullout couch (or don't get a suite -- just get a room with a bed) you'll like it a lot--- but if you need a separate sleeping space for another person (child, whatever) rent two rooms or go elsewhere. Another con-- the breakfast needs improvement. Could be easily improved by supplying milk for coffee and warm (not just out of the freezer) croissants. Also, since fresh fruit is readily available in Seattle, adding fruit would be a plus.

We chose the Marqueen as an alternative to the big chain hotels, and wow - what a great choice. It's NOT a brand-new shiny-looking place like a Marriott or Hilton, but it's well-preserved, clean and was way more interesting than a cookie-cutter hotel. Location in downtown put us in walking distance from lots of restaurants and bars. The area felt safe (even at 11PM) and everything was open.

You will need to use the stairs to get to your room (there's only 3 floors though), but the rooms are spacious, with nice furniture & decor. Our room had a separate sitting parlor and a kitchen as well. The kitchen had a full-size fridge & microwave, and came equipped with plates, utensils and basic cooking stuff. The kitchen was a little worn, but clean.

The bed was comfortable - way more so than expected with lots of high quality pillows.

The staff was VERY friendly and helpful. Valet parking was fast & efficient. The price we paid ($120) was lower than most everything else I could find in the area, and a good value. We'll definitely be back!

I live in Tacoma and stayed at the MarQueen Hotel last Saturday. I was in town to see some Rock-N-Roll in Ballard. We arrived to the hotel and had our vehicle parked by the Valet. It was so easy and fuss-less. There are so many options for dining out in the immediate area, we had dinner a couple of blocks away at Bamboo Gardens (vegetarian Chinese, delicious). The MarQueen is by far my new favorite place to stay in Seattle! The room we had was completely sound proof from the hustle and bustle of the neighborhood below. The best part of our stay, besides the very friendly service, was the bed. I wish I could have that good of a night's sleep every night. I got home and wanted to burn my bed and permanently move into the room I had at the MarQueen.

we stayed for 1 week and enjoyed the historic hotel and bohemian surroundings.
the front staff were helpful and friendly yet professional. there are good restaurants in the area and queen anne street provided a nice, albeit short, stroll.
i skipped breakfast because there was little to offer (cold croissants with jam and butter, coffee, tea, some fruit and breakfast bars) and the fitness center was rudimentary. the parking was costly at $20 per night with no other options (plus tip each time you take out your car and return it). also there are no elevators. but we had no problems with street noise and i liked the kitchenette which was convenient so overall, a good choice.
