“Clean & comfy room, good location and great perks for priority club member”
Reviewed August 16, 2011

My husband and I stayed here for three nights. Two of the nights were paid out of pocket under AAA rate and one night was a priority club reward. We arrived at 11pm and the check-in staff was prompt and friendly. I am a priority club platinum member. The clerk upgraded us to an executive suites on the 33rd floor with sweeping view of the downtown and the harbor. The room was comfy and spacious. The windows were spotless. Each night, the houskeeping staff placed a bottle of lavender scent bedsheets freshener on the bed. I ended up collect the bottles with us to treat the bedsheets in the hotels we stayed in the rest of the trip. We also had complimentary continental breakfast served on the 32nd floor . The breakfast has fruits, bagels, muffins, pastries, cereals , yogurts, juices, bottled water and sodas. The coffee was a little weak. Everyday, we took two bottles of water with us from the breakfast to drink around town.

The location is not bad. But It is NOT in the middle of everything. It is within walking distance to Pike Place market, West lake Mall, waterfront and pioneer square. Be prepared to walk uphill from the waterfront back to the hotel.

As one of the reviewer has pointed out, the elevators were slow and they hided behind the beams in the hallway that made it easy to miss them when they finally arrived your floor. We had waited for 12 minutes one time to get on a elevator.

We didn't have a car with us when we toured Seattle since the parking was expensive at the hotel ( as well as in other hotels in downtown Seattle). It was $32 a night. But we found it pretty easy to get around in Seattle w/o a car. We went to Pike Place, water front, West Lake Mall, art museum, China Town, Pioneer Square on foot. We went to Olympic Park and Ballard Lock by bus. We went to Space Needle and Music Experience Project by monorail. Finally, we went to West Seattle on a ferry. The sunset view from West Seattle to downtown Seattle was awesome and not to be missed!

Nice hotel. they put us in a regular room on floor 26, the fire detector kept "chirping" so they offered to move us to a room on the 15 floor. We were like, no we are on vacation you are not penalizing us the view bc something is wrong with this room. The lady was not nice or working with us at all. So we just said forget it, we had dinner reservations for my birthday & decided we would deal with it when we got back. This time we stopped at the front desk and a guy assisted us & moved us to a room on floor 27, which was fine. My opinion is if you ever need assistance at a hotel go to the lobby front desk where other guest are so that they will assist you appropriately. Parking was very very expensive but probably normal for that area. Overall it was a nice stay for the week, we had no other issues. We ordered room service one night bc we were tired & it was good. we overlooked the interstate & i would assume it is louder on lower floors, we could still hear traffic but it was faint.
They have a nice gift shop on the premise with lots of Seattle "stuff." We met several people that were staying one night & then leaving for an Alaskan cruise.

Room Tip: Use the front desk if you have an issue about ur room.

We are a family of six and decided to spend a few days in Seattle. Since we are so many, I always need to booked two rooms; and therefore, price is always a factor, along with location, room size and cleanness. After reading the reviews posted on this hotel I decided to go with it.

I must say the reviews were accurate. The rooms were large, clean, with very comfortable beds. Upon check-in they did some re-arranging so that we could have adjoining rooms; which was appreciated. I was a little leary at first, as our rooms were right next to the elevators, but not a problem at all, very quiet. Right next to I-5, so may be a little noisy on the lower floors, but we were on floor 33, so not a problem. Other reviews stated that the elevators were slow, but they must have had them serviced, as we did not wait any time at all for an elevator in our four day stay. Location was great. All sites are within walking distance as well as the free bus, for those who do not want to walk.

So, the one negative? The restaurant. We were given a coupon at check-in for a discount on their breakfast buffet. The buffet was limit. Food was ok. Service was horrible. Then we get the bill. I was expecting a $72.00 bill. What I got was a $97.00 bill. They had charged us 18% gratuity for being a party of six and on the original price, not the discounted price. I am not a fan of the mandatory service charge as it is, but at least charge me on the $72.00, that was the price for my breakfast! I would also like a little service as well for the mandatory charge. When I asked about it the staffs only answer was, "The computer automatically does it." We ate at a different restaurant the following day and had a coupon as well; we were charged the 18% gratuity for being a party of six, but the 18% was added after the discount. Much more tolerable.

Except for the restaurant all was great. If you decide to stay, enjoy the room and location and steer clear of the restaurant.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor level to get away from I-5 traffic noise.

Thanks for your recent stay at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Seattle and your feedback regarding your stay. We are glad you enjoyed the spacious room, cleanliness and comfortable beds. The goal of our service staff is to provide a safe and comfortable environment for all. We regret that your dining experience was disappointing and have addressed the service issues with staff. The automatic gratuity for groups of six or more is standard at many restaurants. We are working with our staff to better communicate this prior to dining. We hope to have you as our guest again when your travels bring you back to Seattle.

Moved to this hotel after a disastrous stay at another hotel in Seattle. This was great, we had a Suite which provided a complimentary continental breakfast and canapes in the evening. It is close to all areas oh interest to a discerning tourist. The staff were very helpful and friendly and could not do enough to make our stay comfortable. I would definitely stay here again. All lifts worked and came quickly when called even though the hotel was full, the TV's in room worked as did the safe.

Enjoyed the hotel, but was taken aback at the lack of professionalism by the staff. Felt like I was to be punished for interrupting their personal phone calls/conversation, then made to feel embarassed because I did not have a credit card to check in with. The room was prepaid, so i assumed they could turn off the incidentals. I would have been more than happy to find an ATM for a cash deposit, but their attitude towards us is what turned us off. I even felt like I was bothering the concierge when I asked for directions, then had to clarify her instructions. Sorry - not accustomed to being treated in this manner, so we will not be back. Hotel management might want to look at branding or customer service classes for front line personnel.

There were a lot of little quirky things about this hotel, such as the elevator lights hidden by the hallway doors, but overall a nice place to stay. The hallway walls blocked your view of the elevator lights, so it was possible to wait for an elevator, have one come and go, and still be waiting. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and some were very nice. Spring for the higher floor, concierge room if you can swing it.

Dear MrSunshine777,

Thank you for sharing your feedback about your recent visit to the Crowne Plaza Hotel. We are pleased you found the rooms clean and comfortable. I apologize for the difficulties you had being able to see the elevator lights. We are investigating ways to increase the volume of the chime to announce elevator arrivals. Thank you for your business and we hope to be able serve you again soon.

Condition of hotel is as expected for the price paid, so no complaints there but the reception staff here have turned uselessness and not communicating into a new science. Despite having spoken English as my first language for my entire life, I think I had an easier match communicating with hotel staff in Europe. It's as if they go out of their way to misunderstand what you are saying, and when the message finally makes its way across, they're really good at passing the buck to other staff members.

Our luggage did not arrive with us on our flight to Seattle, and although that is no fault of the hotel or staff, the front desk staff were less than helpful with facilitating its eventual delivery to the hotel, in one instance telling someone who had phoned for us that we were not staying at the hotel when we in fact were, and when the luggage did finally arrive, we were not notified despite being told quite tersely that we would be. When we asked at the front desk we were told very dismissively that there had been no deliveries, and had we believed that we would have unknowingly left Seattle with our baggage still in the hotel due to the lack of ability on behalf of the hotel staff to communicate with us and each other.

If the staff were at least friendly, their incompetence could be excused.

Aside from this though, Terry the Concierge was fantastic and was streets ahead of the front desk staff, and the location of the hotel is very convenient, as is the free breakfast on the 32nd floor for the rates that include it. If you can pack some spare time, do so because this hotel has won the award for slowest elevators in history! Perhaps it is set up that way to provide you with more time to deal with the frustration towards the front desk staff before you get to your room...(?)

Dear Kitten2AU,
Thank you for taking time to share your comments regarding your recent stay at the hotel. I am happy you found the location of the hotel convenient and enjoyed the continental breakfast on the Club Floor. We agree, Terry is a fantastic Concierge and I am glad she took care of your needs during your stay. I understand your frustration with having no luggage due to airline failure coupled with communication challenges at the Front Desk during shift changes. Our Front Office Manager has met with the team to discuss updated guidelines to ensure better outcomes under these circumstances.
The staff at the Crowne Plaza Hotel work very hard to provide our guests with an exceptional experience and I apologize we did not meet your expectations. We value your business and hope that you will allow us the opportunity to redeem ourselves if your travels bring you back to Seattle.
