The basement of this hotel is notable for a self-serve laundry machine, dryer, some waffle makers and plenty of jam. Breakfast is cozy and there's free juice and accoutrements to go with the waffles (that you can make).

The shared bathroom situation worked out well because there are plenty of showers, all of which were private and had a toilet. Privacy was good.

The hotel is located just a bit north of the main downtown museums and nightlife, though realistically there is quite a bit of nightlife happening right around the hotel. Indeed, if your window faces the entrance street or its perpendicular street, be prepared for some entertaining yet potentially disruptive street battles and arguments. It's a safe area but the people tend to get wasted and, though our weekend window was a narrow sliver of time, there were some real doozies. Like the guy whose girlfriend drove off with him on the hood literally below our window.

The management is friendly and helpful. As far as Ace Hotels go, this one is as expected, pretty clean, and has free waffles.

The Ace in Seattle is a fine place to relax, see the Space Needle, Pikes Market and allow a quick walk to Pier 66 for our cruise to Alaska. The weather was excellent which was a nice perk in mid-August. This is not a luxury hotel, but fully comfortable and well suited for a nice vacation. We were very pleased to take the Light Rail from the airport to the end at Westlake and walk a few easy blocks to Ace on 1st Avenue. The Rudy's shower gel and shampoo is SO good. Breakfast was more than adequate and a fun do-it-yourself atmosphere. A good place and fair price. We chose rooms with baths to avoid going down the hall. Would plan to stay again and happy to refer others to Ace in Seattle. Seattle Bite's is worth signing up for too!

Room Tip: Rooms 126 and 128 worked well for our family.

I recently just stayed at the Ace and my experience was pretty good. The staff was great and very welcoming. It is definitely a boutique hotel and more than I wanted to spend for the three nights that I was in Seattle but the location was great. As I'm sure most of the other reviews have said the location of the hotel is truly the best. Just a short 10 min walk to the Space Needle and another short 10 min walk in the opposite direction to downtown and Pike's Place. The waterfront is also right down the hill.

I only have a two issues with the hotel. The continental breakfast is very sparse. You can make your own waffles which are pretty good but that's it for hot options. They also have yogurt with granola, toast and apples and that's it. I only ate breakfast twice there as I was sick of waffles and I'm not a huge yogurt person. Also I was in a room that had only one window which the AC unit was in and that was super loud and not very effective. So because of the breakfast issue I ate out in the neighborhood twice, which was fine and worked out well and I just dealt with the warm room at night.

The room itself was clean and pretty big and very comfortable. The two issues I had really didn't make my experience that terrible I still really enjoyed my stay. And you honestly can't beat the location. The neighborhood also has lots of restaurants and bars.

Spent 3 nights in June here and was very impressed. It's basically a boutique hostel and has really helpful and polite staff. Location is good, walking distance from the Space Needle and the centre of town. Convenience stores, bars and restaurants are all easily accessible. Only thing to note is that rooms (at least mine), whilst being comfy and having all the necessary amenities, do not have showers or toilets and these are located behind reception which can be a short walk away. This wasn't a major issue and for the price I would definitely recommend it.

The Ace Hotel Seattle is similar to the one in Portand in that it does a great job in capturing the old and new and in illuminating the character of the city...not the white collar Microsoft, Amazon, and Nintendo of America dot com character but rather the hipster, environmentalist, resourceful, indie, and decadent side of Seattle before the dot com crowd.
The exterior of the hotel itself emanates this: an old 2 story (well 2 1/2) brick building built in 1909 in which many of the original fixtures, architectural details have been salvaged and kept throughout the exterior and interior.
The interior is much the same..lots of brick and minimalist decor, hip touches, vintage locally made furniture, and local and international artwork.. The stairs leading from the front doors to the lobby are really cool at night lit up.

The rooms reflect the exterior and public interior spaces: retro cool and hip with preserved and/or repurposed touches. We had a large room that was rather industrial with white painted brick walls, a long stainless steel and metal splash board that covered part of the wall in front of the metal sink, a huge ( 5 people could fit!) shower with two shower heads (one on each side) with a semi see through sliding bright red door. This red door when not in use for the shower was pushed to the other side to act as the door for the toilet room which had old newspaper for wallpaper. All of this was super cool!!
The bed was large and comfortable with interesting light fixtures, radio, large flat screen TV, and a large tripod floor lamp. Next to the bed was a Barcelona chair and by the window a long retro sofa. There is a nice mini bar and sink with locally procured beverages and food items. The window had views of the street and the Puget Sound. The hallways leading to the rooms are outfitted with floating globe lamps that glow red in the evening.

At street level there is Cyclops a cafe/lounge serving all kinds of food and many vegetarian dishes. The hotel's breakfast area is "basement" level with street access. Car parking is at a lot down the street and cost roughly (at the time) $18 a night. Also, for a cost you can use the washers and dryers in the "basement".
The hotel , in the heart of Belltown, is ground zero for entertainment and nightlife with dozens of shops, restaurants and bars within walking distance.

This is an excellent choice for staying in Seattle, affordable, cool, teriffic location, and great ambience all within walking distance to Pike Place, Pacific Science Center and Space Needle, downtown, Olympic Sculpture Park, Aquarium, and Seattle Art Museum. Can't go wrong here.
Cool hip place!

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel but I do understand why some people may dislike it. The hotel is not only very nicely designed and decorated, but also has a good location, with excellent dining options around and a bakery across the street. I really liked being able to see the water from our window, and with the bathroom in the room, I needn't worry about the shared hallway bathrooms awkwardness. But it seems that the cleaning service is very selective when deciding what gets to be cleaned: sinks - yes, glasses - dirty marks all over them and unusable, sheets - clean, bathroom walls - stains everywhere. It also bothered me that in the breakfast room the tables and the floor were messy despite the cleaning crew hanging out there. In general, the hotel deserves a more invested clean up.

Clean, inviting rooms, thoughtful touches (q-tips and cotton balls in a jar), spacious showers, fantastic service- and the location! Two blocks from Pike and maybe four or five blocks from the needle. Excellent nightlife surrounding the area. Parking is a pain, but it's Seattle- it's a pain everywhere. In the future I would take advantage of their offered parking pass ($26 a day with in and out privileges) and then mainly rely on public transit.
