“Stayed here twice over a couple of weeks”
Reviewed May 26, 2012

We stayed at the Inn at the Market before (2 days) and after (1 day) our Alaska Cruise.
Start with the staff - very friendly as well as helpful.
The Hotel location is in a great spot especially for getting around on foot. Close to some good shopping areas and the Downtown area. Only a 10 min walk to the Mono Rail for the space needle.
The Markets are well worth a good look and there are some great little cafes and restaurants there.
The rooms are very neat and clean and on our second stay we had a room with two double beds that provided even more room (just as well as we had to do a bag re-pack after our trip..)

All in All a very good Hotel with great staff in a good location. Would definitely stay there again if in Seattle.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with two double beds.

My husband and I stayed at the Inn at the Market on May 10th and May 18th, flanking both sides of a cruise. We chose this hotel based on the ratings on Trip Advisor. When we arrived in Seattle early on May 10th, we went directly to the hotel. Luck would have it and we were able to check in early. We dropped our luggage off (the bell hops are wonderful at this hotel!) and asked the front desk where to go for lunch. I believe it was the general manager who helped us select a great seafood place that was only a few blocks away that had wonderful views. He even walked us out to point us in the right direction! We spent the afternoon roaming around the fish market (this is a wonderful place and something you should do when in Seattle!). For dinner, we went to another fantastic place that was just across the street. We came back to the hotel and enjoyed some time on the observation deck with views of the majestic Mount Rainier and the Olympic Mountains on each side of the Puget Sound - so incredibly beautiful. The hotel is in a location that cannot be beat. The beds are very comfortable, the rooms are a good size, the bathroom is a good size and has all the conveniences one has come to expect at good hotels. There is plenty of water pressure and plenty of hot water. The linens (both sheets and towels) are top quality. They should consider putting in the rounded shower rods so that the shower curtain does not billow into one taking a shower - that is something extremely annoying to me and causes me to push the shower curtain out and at times this may cause slight flooding of the bathroom floor.

When we returned to the hotel for the last day of our vacation after our cruise, we got there early again. Due to the hotel being full the night before, we could not check in early (which did not surprise or upset me), so we just left our luggage and decided to go to the Seattle Needle and spend some time there. (We arrived sometime before 9 that morning.) We were gone for several hours and returned sometime around 1 or so. We were told our room still was not ready. So we decided to just sit by the fire in the lobby and wait for a little while. We waited and waited. Several parties (ten or so, perhaps?) arrived and were able to check in while we were waiting. After a couple of hours, my husband politely inquired as to our room. We were told it was not ready. What? After being told the FIRST time we arrived (before 9) that they would call us as soon as our room was ready (yes, they took our cell number) and then being gone for several hours and then waiting while we witnessed many others being checked in that arrived after we arrived .... well, I just didn't understand. No matter what the excuse is to be - the reason is that the girl at the front desk simply forgot about us. This time I did get upset. No apologies from the person at all. I just went back to the fish market and walked around to calm down, enjoying the views of the beautiful flowers that are so abundant in the market. When I came back, we finally had our room. After a shower and a bite to eat, I was feeling much calmer and able to relax and enjoy what Seattle had to offer for the evening. For our "bite to eat" that evening, we went to the fish market and purchased fresh fruit, wine at the wine shop (I agree with a previous review that the cabernet in the room is not good - go get good wine near the fish market), cheese at the cheese market, a loaf of french bread from the bakery and had dinner on the observation deck at the hotel. Such fun!

Would I stay at the Inn at the Market again? Probably. Would I recommend the Inn at the Market to my friends and family? Probably, with my story of being "forgotten" included with my recommendation so that they could make their own decision.

Dear Guest:
Thank you for your detailed reveiw, I am sorry to read that we did not get you checked in early on your second visit. I visited with the front office team this morning to see how we can improve with early arrivals. It is a little difficult at times as the hotel is running full and with the cruise ships arriving at 7am we cannot meet all early arrival requests, but will certainly try. For readers of tripadvisor you can always leave your car here or store your bags with us and go and enjoy the city. I am pleased to read that you did enjoy your visit overall and we look forward to having you return in the near future.

This was the first time we managed to get booked in at this popular hotel. We were not disappointed, it lived up to our expectations very well. It had a nice, personal feel compared to staying in a chain hotel. Check-in and check-out went smoothly and the valet parking was great.

We had a street/city view room and it was spacious and very well appointed. Very clean overall. A very comfortable bed with great linens, great bathroom too! Despite our room overlooking the street, the sound-proofing was pretty good.

We tried a couple of restaurants nearby. Marché (great, loved it), Cafe Campagne (pretty good) and Steelhead Diner across the street (not so impressed).

We hope we can stay at the Inn at the Market next time we stay in downtown Seattle.

We stayed 1 night at The Inn at the Market after our cruise to Alaska, and it was a fantastic choice after the cramped, tired, so called 'State Room' on the HAL ship. Loved the position, so close to the Market and walking distance to so many interesting places on the waterfront.
The Hotel staff were very welcoming and attentive and the room and bathroom spacious and well set up. We would definitely stay there again if we were in Seattle.

Dear Guest:
Thank you for staying with us, I am pleased to read your stay was comfortable and pleasant. The locaation here in Pike Place Market is magical, yesterday I went through the market and picked up some smoked salmon, fresh fruit and cheese and enjoyed the moment on observation deck.

The location alone makes the Inn at the Market worth it, but the accommodations and quality of the service enhance the value. Everyone associated with the Inn was courteous and highly professional. The proximity to so many restaurants, shopping AND Pike's Place Market kept us from trying out the Inn's food offerings.

From beginning to end we had the perfect experience at this lovely boutique hotel located in the heart of Pike Place Market. We were able to get early check-in(much appreciated after a cross country flight) and were upgraded to a beautiful waterview room. Loved looking out over Elliott Bay as we enjoyed our delicious room service breakfast each morning. Staff provided exceptional customer service and were so friendly and helpful in arranging transportation and reservations. I would highly recommend this hotel if you're visiting Seattle--it would be perfect for a honeymoon or other special occasion or just to visit. We loved being so close to the market and a short walk uptown to catch the monorail to the Seattle Center. Beds were very comfortable and the room had all the amenities you would expect from a first class hotel including a well-equipped business center and free wireless throughout the hotel.

Room Tip: Request a high floor with a water view. It's so worth it!

After a few days in a rustic chalet on Hood Canal, it was great to top it off with two days in luxury right in the Market area. It's difficult to think of a better location. Bedding was extremely comfortable, suite was clean, fresh, commodious, hip with its environs. Pass on the Cafe Campagne for room service - it's no good - soggy fries (frites), dry, shrunken lamb burger, limited selection. Bacco's for breakfast is great, stepping off the third floor - Brasserie like. Staff is friendly and effective. Don't bother uncorking the Cabernet in the room bar - it's no good. The hotel's WiFi open network is intermittent and mostly unusable - it's not secured with a password for guests, so I suspect it's overloaded with everybody in Pike's place on it.
