Best hotel in the best location! My first trip to Seattle was made perfect because of this exceptional hotel. While it may be part of a hotel chain, it offers attentive, personalized service. The rooms are beautifully decorated and comfortable. The wine hour is a perfect way to wind down at the end of a busy day of sightseeing. The location is convenient to public transportation, Pike Place Market, museums, shopping, and restaurants.

Thanks so much! you pretty much hit all the high notes! We are do have a great location and the rooms which we recently remodeled are great but those folks behind the desk with a genuine smile and williness to do which make your stay! We have 3 great Kimptons in Seattle and all three are the perfect way to end a day - the Alexis on 1st, the Monaco - Sazerac and then the wonderful Vintage Park with Tulio and the besk smoked salmon ravioli that you will dream of for a long long time.

Made reservations here and spent two nights at this upscale hotel. Excellent location on Front Street walkable to Fish Market, many fine restaurants and stores and the monorail. The staff was friendly and courteous rooms were large and very well appointed with upscale sound system the TV reception was poor.
Beds and furniture were comfortable and attractive. All in all a good value for the money. Will not disappoint!

Room Tip: Don't bring a car if possible. Valet parking at the hotel is $40 per night. That is outrageous i...

hey Dr. Z! thanks for the great notes. The TV reception must have been an issue for the time you were with us as it isnt the norm. The location is perfect, just far enough away from the maddening crowd at Westlake but close enough that you can walk to pretty much everything, Seattle is a great walking place and eating never stops! our brilliant concierge Dan can set you up for everything from dinner to a late night hot spot. just let us know.

Great helpful staff and nice property! I live in Seattle so don't often get to stay in town, but had some work done on the house so used the Monaco recently. Very impressed! Like all Kimptons, super helpful desk staff and great on property restaurant (Sazerac). This is a well run property and for tourists, very convenient to all of Seattle's downtown sights.

A perfect staycation! we have a huge number of guests who are in the hotel when those hardwoods or painting of the house means you need to get out of the home! What an odd but great way to explore your own city. Those super helpful desk people are some of the craziest and happiest folks we can find. I appreciate you mentioning them.

I usually stay at the Sheraton when I am in Seattle but they weren't "in policy" for my company so I stayed at the Monaco for my most recent trip. My group and I didn't check in until 11pm yet there were still two people working at the front desk so no one had to wait very long. I love the $10 room snack/mini bar credit and free wifi when you're a Kimpton Rewards member. I had forgotten my iPhone 5 and Kindle charger and the staff very early in the morning was able to charge both for me while I went on a run.

We are only about 3 blocks from the Sheraton but about 300 years away from how we run our hotels. Kimpton believes that you should have a little more fun in life and we work hard to focus on making you so much more than just a room number "room 2703 checking out' sounds a little like prison. I pick staff not for their ability to fit into a slot on paper, but pick them if they like to have people over to their house for dinner or have a hobby where they hang with great likeminded folk and it shows! Delighted that you recognize that all our Kimptons have the same emotion attached to the name - the world needs a little more Kimpton!

We enjoyed our 3 night stay during over vacation to Seattle! The location is excellent for walking most places or to take public transportation. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The beds and pillows were very comforable! If you are not a city person, you do have some outdoor sounds, but they did not bother us, We were given a room on one of the higher floors which had a bi-pass elevator activated by our room card which allowed for faster travel. Our floor's ice machine wasn't working, but fresh ice was brought to us when we called. We have no complaints and would happily recommend this hotel to friends.

Room Tip: I would ask when you call to reserve a room, because the staff would give accurate advice!

Thanks for the great notes! yes you pay a small price in the downtown core having a great location and stunning hotel. the noise factor impacts all downtown hotels and we have a pretty good sound system in here to off set the outside noise. but with so many positives, can't seem to have many issues with this. So glad you had a wonderful stay, come back and see us soon!

Very nice hotel - beautiful lobby. Great location - walking distance to Pikes Place, public transportation, local attractions, shopping and restaurants. Staff was helpful. Clean hotel even with all the dogs. (We never heard dogs barking at night!) Enjoyed the free coffee in the lobby as well as the happy hour. Room was not ready when we arrived so we lett our bags and went for a walk. The restaurant next door was very nice. (Yummy red roasted pepper soup)

Room Tip: Our room was quiet. We stayed on the 8th floor away from the street. Our room had a nice big windo...

thanks for the great notes about all the good things happening here at the Monaco. I had some of that red pepper soup with my wife, it was worthy of a trip back the next day! We are perfectly located to make anyone's experience here the best choice for a trip to the Emerald city, thanks for the nice thoughts!

My wife, two kids, and I just completed a six-day stay at the Monaco and walked away quite pleased. It's on the brink of 5 stars by my account, but to be fair to previous five-star ratings I went with four stars.

The positives start with location. It's as close to the freeway offramp (Seneca exit) and onramp as you could possibly want for driving convenience. It's a few blocks removed from the chaotic and congested streets, which makes driving easy if needed. It's also walking distance to pretty much any attraction you'd like to see.

The room itself was fabulous, with nice beds, wonderful linen, and a spaciousness that accommodated four people. The room's decor is chic, but not at the expense of comfort. Great water pressure in the showers and clearly there is attention to detail.

They have wine and cheese in the lobby in the afternoons, which is a nice touch. It's about five blocks from Pike market, four blocks from the Monorail station, and situated in a nice part of town surrounded by shopping and fantastic restaurants. We are walkers, and were able to find something wonderful within a one-mile radius in all four directions from our hotel.

The bellhops and valets are exactly what you want from a hotel. Friendly, attentive, and sincerely interested in how you are enjoying their city. They are the strength of the hotel staff. The front desk is the one weak link of the staff. They were efficient in our interactions (check in and bill verification just before checking out), but much to my surprise never once said hello or returned our hello when we returned to the hotel or exited the hotel. It was actually surprising how unfriendly they were, almost as if they were instructed to not make eye contact or conversation with patrons unless the patron requested their service. And this wasn't just one or two of them, but everyone we saw on every shift we saw them. They were nice when we were at the counter, but aloof otherwise.

We only ate in their restaurant once (our first breakfast), and quickly learned that there are way too many better places to eat that are nearby to go a second time. It wasn't bad by any stretch, but when you have places like Opaline for breakfast (5th Avenue near Blanchard) and Purple for dinner (4th Avenue at University) that are amazing it's not worth eating at the hotel. And I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful Purple and Opaline are.

We were incredibly lucky to take a tour with "Show Me Seattle" where we got picked up at the hotel and were taken to amongst other places, the canal locks and the Salmon steps. We were there at the perfect time, as we saw hundreds of salmon swimming upstream through the step system by way of the aquarium-like window on the side of the steps. There is nothing like it anywhere else. The Duck tour seems like a party, and was tempting, but I am SOOOOOO glad my wife insisted on "Show Me Seattle" tours. We also did a food tour with "Savor Seattle" that was a real treat. It starts about a half mile from the hotel and is a really nice neighborhood walk (uphill) to get there.

The hotel is well appointed and priced competitively for what you get. If we return to Seattle, we will no doubt stay at the Monaco.

Room Tip: Higher is better. We had no view to write about, but loved our room.
