“Great hotel and location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2012

We had a great experience at Hotel Monaco. We recently traveled with two other couples to Seattle for the Monday night football game - yes we are Green Bay Packer fans! We had never been to Seattle before so we arrived early on Friday and stayed at the hotel for four nights. Seattle is a wonderful city with much to do. We are all experienced travelers and after four nights in one hotel you would generally find something that could be improved. Our only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer - and that the Packers should have won the game! The rooms were nicely appointed, the beds were very comfortable, loved the robes, we liked the choice of pillows, good lighting in the bathroom and large windows in the room; the staff was friendly and always ready to help us with our questions - a young intern at the front desk was especially friendly and helpful; and the food was excellent. The hotel is located downtown and central to many activities and restaurants - we walked everywhere; plus Seattle has a wonderful public transportation system. The concierge suggested several good restaurants and that we reserve a car to travel to the airport - both were the perfect suggestions. We especially enjoyed Sazerac, the bar and restaurant at Hotel Monaco- the small plates and appetizers were delicious - did you know Seattle is known for weekday Happy Hours? The open concept kitchen allowed staff to interact with the guests - Chef Gary was fun to talk with plus he suggested several items that we wouldn't have tried but were absolutely delicious. We will definitely return to Seattle and Hotel Monaco.

So what about those Seahawks? sorry about that, definately not very hospitable of us! You do bring up a great point, that not only can you walk to the Pike Place Market, but also the stadium! sure its a 15 minute walk but you need to get ready for the garlic fries anyway! The walk to Century Link Stadium or Safeco field makes the Seattle Monaco a perfectly located hotel!

It was truly a "utopian" experience for me when I stayed at the Hotel Monaco in early September. I did not know anything about the Hotel Monaco until this business trip. I spent three nights and during the days participated in a class/conference that occurred at this hotel. Never was I disappointed in all of my interactions with the hotel staff. In fact, it was an extremely positive experience. The room was meticulously decorated in every detail. I hope to return to either the Hotel Monaco or one of the other Kimpton Hotels in the near future. It was a wonderful trip!

Utopia! now thats a word not often used in hotel reviews! Thanks so much. I think that one of the secrets for the hotel is that it is a great place to come to work everyday and as such everyone feels pretty happy about the experience of just being here, guest or employee. The location, the style (newly renovated) the restuarant either here -Sazerac or up the street at the Vintage Park another Kimpton hotel can change your business trip into something special. One meal at Tulio and you will find a reason to come back to Seattle! Thanks for your note, you made my morning.

We had to spend one night in Seattle before boarding a cruise ship and we chose to stay two nights there after we returned to port the next weekend. Hotel Monaco turned out to be a wonderful place to stay for several reasons. Since we stayed in the San Francisco location, we knew the property would have a boutique hotel feel which we prefer to more impersonal chains. We actually usually stay in B&B's and inns with kitchenettes in the room so I can prepare gluten-free breakfasts for longer stays. For such a short stay, I don't mind going out for b'fast and doing without carbs like muffins, toast, etc. As an added bonus, the restaurant connected to Hotel Monaco in Seattle turned out to have wonderful naturally gluten-free b'fast choices. We ate there two of three mornings and both the food and service was excellent!

The decor is gorgeous at the Seattle Hotel Monaco location and both the standard rooms and larger suite rooms are very spacious. The lighting in the bathrooms is even decent which is usually not the case in hotels (in any price range). The robes and upscale toiletries are a nice touch as well! There was plenty of room in the mid-fridge for my various left overs, gluten-free desserts, etc. and the happy hour during the early evenings was a welcome treat after a long day seeing the fabulous sights of Seattle! All the staff members at the hotel were friendly, helpful and professional and the car service (to and from Sea-Tac airport) available was a good value.

The downtown location was convenient and we were able to walk to dinner at The Pink Door and to Tulio's (also owned by Kimpton) with ease. There is also a Walgreen's not too far away and by now, a new Target store, which was not open when we were there. The only thing I can think of that could improve my own stay at the hotel would be for Wheatless in Seattle to supply their killer cinnamon rolls to the restaurant. Otherwise, this is a great place to stay in Seattle!

Room Tip: Both our rooms were quiet and very comfortable. I think they both faced the street the hotel's...

What a nice note that you liked us so much you came back for a second stay. I think you will find that the fun aspect you enjoyed so much at the San Francisco Monaco carries through to all 56 of our hotels. They attract fun guests and great folks who enjoy coming to work everyday the same way I do!

Stayed there during July 3rd weekend. Hotel decor is beautiful, front desk staff are friendly. Found parking to be on the expensive side, but I guess that's the going price for downtown. Would stay there again when we visit Seattle and recommend to friends and family.

You hit almost all the great points of the hotel in your short reivew! Yes, unfortnately the parking costs which are posted all over the web site, are the cost for a secured, underground lot operated by a valet service with unlimited in and out priv. every day. Your car is safe and dry, and you rest easier. Thanks for the great note!

This hotel has considerable charm, with gorgeous rooms and very helpful staff. They had free beverages in the lobby, and an attached restaurant that was delicious. I was in Seattle for a conference and spread over a number of hotels; everybody envied those of us in this one because it was so light and convenient. Most importantly, they treated my dog like he was the center of the universe (which, of course, he is). They all played with him, allowed me to have a dog walker in every day, and treated him like family. I would stay here every time I have work in Seattle.

When our founder Bill Kimpton traveled with his pet many years ago he felt that both he and the dog were treated like they had committed some sort of crime, soooo we made a plan to extend to both guests and dogs the same sort of experience, glad you felt it! Sazerac is our outstanding restaurant in the hotel which combines both the South and Pacific Northwest flavors (who else but Kimpton would do that) or just up the street is the best and I mean best Italian restuarant in the city or maybe the world. Tulio is only 400 feet from our front door, check it out and let me know!

Thanks for hitting most of our highlights! Yes there is street parking outside the hotel for those who are looking for a cost savings, fair warning, it ends at 8 am and at 8:01 Am they are there looking to see who has a valid sticker on your car.

Stayed at the Hotel Monaco as part of a business meeting. The hotel location, staff and ambiance all made for a nice stay. My hotel room upstairs and the meeting room downstairs (Level LL) both met this seasoned travelers expectations a seasoned traveler. Located on 4th, it's just a few blocks down to the waterfront piers. And yes, I recommend this hotel.

Well from a seasoned traveller, I appreciate that we met your expectations! The location of the hotel is only one of its many positive aspects, but appreciate you noting it. We are a great business hotel, with excellent meeting space for corporate to weddings the hotel does everything, recently I was at a wedding reception in Sazerac that was a blast. Thanks for the nice comments.
