Outstanding food and service. Wonderful sommelier, the hardest working people I've ever seen in the hospitality business.

Really lovely hotel, beautifully manicured gardens, nice people and some sumptuous food.

Dinner was great but in some ways I preferred breakfast which although not a culinary experience to match dinner, it was much more casual with really nice fruit, pasteries and some cooked stuff as well.

The only thing which let this hotel down was its proximity to a busy road. As times the road noise was intrusive.

Overall very good but the road did le it down by one notch.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the side of the hotel away from the main road

This property is basically surrounded by a busy road. In most (all?) rooms you are close to this and for us it was not possible to have the windows open.

Service is alright without being overly pleasant or friendly. No complaints though.

The food in the restaurant was alright - not quite sure about the michelin star but it was fine. The sommelier needs to learn some manners though: don't pour our bottle of wine before I have okayed it please (twice - despite making a comment the first time!).

There is a small pool and steam/sauna room, which are pleasant.

I went to the Briqueterie some 20 years ago without my husband and always said i would go back there with him. I looked to book it last year when we were travelling down through France but i was quite astonished at the price of the rooms. On this occasion however it was late, we were without a room and most of the other reasonable hotels were full, so we stayed for 250 Euros for the night excluding breakfast. We weren't over the moon with the price and we also were not impressed with the two evening staff who were young and inexperienced. First hurdle was a question on did the room have a double bed - we were told it was a twin, and then she changed her mind. Then we asked if we could eat there (it was about 9.35 when when phoned through) we were told we could, when i asked what time the kitchen closed she told me it closed at 9.30, i reminded her it was passed that time already and she then told me we couldn't eat there (this all being after the credit card details had been taken from me!). She then told me that we could drive into town and find somewhere as it was Friday and there were loads of restaurants open. In the event we didn't want to drive, having just come all the way from England so as we checked in we asked for a cab and restaurant to be booked. When we returned to reception some 10 mins later the young man on concierge told me that he had booked a cab but hadn't found a restaurant - after all it was late! We were getting a little annoyed at this stage. Eventually we managed to find a restaurant and had a lovely meal. We returned to the hotel and asked if we could get a coffee/night cap - we were told that there was a mini bar in our room - we went to bed and we didn't hang around for breakfast the following morning. Its a shame because this is a beautiful setting and very pretty, lovely rooms, but somewhat pretentious in its attitude towards its customers. We probably wont bother returning.

We stayed the night on the way home from our trip to Switzerland.

Had booked a De Luxe room which was on the ground floor with doors to garden. The room was okay but no where to put suitcase etc. The bathroom was very small with a shower in the bath - the shower curtain was dirty at the bottom and the grouting around the bath needed cleaning. Towels were okay but bathrobes looked tatty. There was a separate toilet. The bed linen was good quality and the bed comfortable.

We had booked for dinner in the restaurant but had a drink before. I had a glass of champagne - it came in a cheap glass, absolutely no presentation. My husband asked for a glass of dry white wine. We looked at the menu, starters were 30 - 40 Euros and mains 44 - 48 Euros. My husband requested another glass of wine and instead of bringing a fresh glass they came along with a large bottle and used his existing glass.
The food was okay but very saltly, nothing special considering the price. The cheese board was good.

We had breakfast - 22Euro each - it was okay.

When we checked out, I noticed they had charged 20Euros per glass for the white wine.
Considering we paid 49Euro for the Sancerre we had with our meal I thought this a rip off.

I really woudn't recommend this hotel - They know how to charge but they don't delivery the service. (We even had to pour our own water at dinner)

We spent our last 3 nights in france at la briqeterie and loved it! We had a large suite decorated in the most colourful way (pink and orange) which is a bit shocking at first but quite cozy once used to it.
Service is excellent and totally professional.
Food has a well deserved michelin star, we ate 2 nights there and both where fantastic.
The best part though, are the wine list and the sommelier! Really recommend both. We eventually had 2 excellent bordeaux s, one quite old which was amazing and quite well priced, considering its age and quality!

We have stayed at this hotel previously, one of my reviews is still on Trip Advisor. We found the hotel to be just as beautiful. The staff are welcoming, helpful and professional. We had a classic room which was fine, lovel;y furnishings, good bathroom with separate toilet. Quality towels and bath robes. Comfy bed.
On arrival we had a bottle of Champagne, then a wander round the beautiful gardens before dinner. We chose the Degustation menu - every course a delight. The staff in the dining room are very attentive, but professional and discreet. The food was a dream. Every course looked and tasted so wonderful. Breakfast also was very good, the room being managed by a most enthusiastic young man. The cost of the stay (1 night) for dinner, room, breakfast and the Champagne on arrival was £472.00, but we certainly got value for our money and have taken away some great memories. We will return. Many thanks to all the staff.
