We had finished lunch and were walking around town when we walked up on Captian William Moore Cabin. It was worth the stop

This is an interesting place to visit. It is on a side street in the town and worth walking over to see. The original log cabin has been preserved and the house that the family later lived in is next door. You can tour the house and see into the log cabin. The guide was very informative and well versed in the history of the homestead. The house is furnished with period furniture. Nice stop if you are interested in Skagway history.

As "locals" from a nearby Southeast Alaska community we were interested in seeing some of the history of the building of Skagway. The small minimalist cabin gave an appreciation to the hardy folks that settled Alaska.

It's advised not to miss the story of Captian Moore in his historical spot during the Klondike Gold Rush. The fact that this place still stands in light of the history is amazing. If you DONT learn the history behind it, you will be dissappointed.
