Owner description: Here at Alaska 360's Dredge Town in Skagway, Alaska, you can immerse yourself in the history and beauty of the Klondike Gold Rush. Visitors are transported back to the 1890's as our costumed staff meets, greets, guides, and entertains them. Our site includes everything from gold panning, to Iditarod sled dogs, to an authentic dredge and a chamber where you can experience 40-below temperatures. On site you can enjoy the many attractions and displays including a dress up photo shack, movies, and educational exhibits. There is also a restaurant and soda factory to allow our guests to make a day of it at Dredge Town. We aren’t just tours – we are an experience!

Gold panning with. "pay dirt" from Dawson City. Panning stations setup Besides Skagway river. We panned Several pieces for $29.00 ticket. Then we had to pay another $25.00 if we wanted to display our gold in a vial. Sorta expensive! People were friendly & area picturesque.

“Fun experience for Kids an Adults”
Reviewed August 11, 2012 via mobile

We visited the dredge last week as part of the bus tour, Yukon suspenesion tour and gold digging experience. The crew seemed a little disorganized at first, but once the show started, things clicked into gear. The gave a brief demonstration of the process and history, and the gave everyone a pan full of pay dirt. This turned out to be the most iteresting part of the visit for adults and kids alike. We spent about 15 minutes panning for gold using actual panning techniques with both kids and adults. It seemed like every pan had few golf flecks to give a sense of what it would have been like during the gold rush. They even gave the kids little film canisters so that the could keepmthe flecks and get them weighed in the gift shop. All in all, this was interesting excursion wherewe got to see the Klondike Area of the Canadian Wilderness, a really cool suspension bridge, the the gold panning. If you are looking to do a semi-relaxing excursion with fun for the whole family, this is one that you will not want to miss!

“Wonderful time”
Reviewed July 30, 2012

Had a great time. Really enjoyed Two-ton Tom's talk as well as the gold panning and dredge tour. Our 2 year old nephew's first trip to Alaska. This made for a truly memorable experience. We recomend this to all travelers.

“Spend your time and money elsewhere”
Reviewed July 19, 2012

This place is geared for those who booked through a cruise ship only. Other than on a cruise ship, there is no listing of activities or prices either in tourist publications, on the Klondike website or even posted at the tour location. At the tour location, you have to ask what is available and then you have to ask prices. This place is completely dependent on the cruise ship business and does not or cannot advertise independently. Tour times on their website are inaccurate.

This is an example of an attraction stuck in the past, literally and can't seem to adapt. The people here are all nice and friendly, but all we wanted was a tour in a timely manner.

We arrived a on the SMART bus and welcomed by the wife of one of the owners. It was 10:10 a.m. but they did not open until 10:30 a.m. She invited us in to roam the gift shop. DW made some large purchases while we waited and waited. There was a bus tour in at 11:15 a.m. and we could join that group for a tour of the dredge. The bus brought in perhaps 12 people who were touring the dredge and then gold panning. The dredge tour lasted 20 minutes with a tour guide narrative. The tour was short, more theme related historical photographs would help to beef up the tour. The whole area we went through is in need of various repair, it has the run down look, past the authentic look. Up to the time of the tour, the various staff walked around with nothing to do literally.

Besides the dredge tour at $20, gold panning at $30, there is a look at the sled dogs for $35 and the “-40” chill for $15 plus 5% tax on all. There was a brewery tour and a restaurant which was not open while we were there. Prices?

We and another couple waited for the 12:10 p.m. SMART bus, a no show. Finally the 12:40 bus arrived. We did have a building with a wood stove on to stay out of the cold while waiting for the bus. It was about 48 or 9 Celcius on June 30.

Overall, I feel it was a complete waste of time and $42 for admission. DW enjoys her gold nugget earrings.

“Kids Are Still Talking About This!”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

We booked this excursion through our Disney cruise, and it's the thing my girls are still talking about! They loved learning about the Iditarod, and where in their glory when they got to meet the sled dogs. But wait! The bonus was the puppies! How can you not love a port adventure that lets you cuddle puppies?

We did the 40 Below room, which was quite interesting. I'm not sure you could do a whole lot with this, but the kids thought it was so "cool" freezing their tushes off.

The gold panning was fun, although for my kids, there was a little bit of frustration on the part of the youngest (age 7) who wanted to rush through and take her fortune. She also got a little antsy during the history lesson part of the gold panning adventure.

Overall, this was an awesome experience, and we'd definitely recommend it for families.
