Owner description: Yukon Sightseeing Adventure by Hummer: Travel the route of the Trail of '98 from behind the wheel of a comfortable and spacious Hummer® H3 SUV. This limited, exclusive excursion will allow you to enjoy the scenery and history of the Klondike Gold Rush at a leisurely pace. Your small group of explorers will set out in comfort on an adventure from Skagway into the Yukon Territory via the famous routes taken by the hardy gold prospectors in the late 1800's. You'll be driving your Hummer® into the heart of the rugged wilderness made famous by fabled gold rush legends Robert Service and Jack London. Your experienced tour guide, in the lead vehicle, will entertain you with tales of the gold rush era via an interactive, two-way radio system. Driving your own Hummer® provides you the freedom, comfort and relaxation of exploring the Klondike Gold Rush routes from a bygone era in an intimate way. This adventure allows you to experience the beauty of Skagway and the Yukon Territory away from the crowds. Your guide will lead your caravan to destinations such as Pitchfork Falls, Moore Bridge, Dead Horse Gulch, Bracket Wagon Trail, and Tormented Valley. Additionally, you will visit the historic village of Carcross, named after the narrow Caribou crossing at the headwaters of the mighty Yukon River. After a short break, your caravan will travel to The World's Smallest Desert, and finally, the highlight of this adventure, Emerald Lake, known for its vivid turquoise water. You will also enjoy an Alaskan style snack prior to hearing the story of Jefferson Randolph "Soapy" Smith, Skagway's most notorious outlaw, on your return trip to Skagway. This spellbinding adventure crosses an international border. You must bring your Passport and driver's license. Remember to take along a camera and some friends for this five-hour adventure. Klondike Custom Hummer Excursion: Create your own Skagway experience in a luxurious, chauffeured Hummer! The Alaska Custom Hummer Excursion is the ultimate Skagway shore excursion where you're in charge! Your personal chauffeur/guide will be your host to create an experience that includes whatever you want to do. Select from a menu of tour options, add your own personal touches, then combine those with the comfort and elegance of a luxuriously appointed Hummer®, and upscale service for the perfect Alaska experience. Your rugged yet plush Hummer H2®, is your vantage point for four or eight hours to experience Skagway and venture in one of two directions. First, you could tour the charming town of Skagway and visit the Gold Rush Cemetery near lower Reid Falls, where one of the most notorious con men in history, "Soapy Smith", was buried. You can opt to travel along the route of the 1898 Klondike Gold Rush towards Dawson City through the White Pass, crossing the cable-stayed, Captain William Moore Bridge, and into the Yukon Territory. You can also visit world-renowned waterfalls including Pitch Fork Falls, which provides Skagway's power, and Bridal Veil Falls, a long steep cascade of a Skagway River tributary. Bove Island in Tagash Lake is a possible photo stop after passing through the historic gold rush supply center of Carcross, which used to be a hunting and fishing camp for the Inland Tlingit and Tagish people. Continue a few miles north and pass through the world's smallest desert, measuring one square mile. Continue north to the perfect turnaround point, Emerald Lake, notable for its intense green color. Or, head the other direction and follow the turnout to the Skagway Overlook, then take the scenic drive to the National Historic Park of Dyea, which spans diverse ecosystems from subarctic to coastal, home of the most reported species of lichen. On this route, you can experience wild Alaska, with possible bear and bald eagle sightings. You'll find it hard to believe that this was at the heart of the gold rush boom years ago, and now it is the starting point of the famous Chilkoot trail. You'll be briefed on a variety of tour options that are available for you. Do as much, or as little, as you like. Select from active experiences or the more mellow. Mix and match. It's entirely your choice. Have a special interest like photography or hiking? No problem. Your chauffeur/guide can help you create a tour experience that is entirely of your own creation. In addition to being your driver and tour escort, your chauffeur/guide is at your beck and call. Think of him as your personal concierge. On an Alaska Custom Hummer® Excursion, you call the shots. Our job is to help you experience Skagway in the very best way possible.

We booked this adventure as part of our Alaskan cruise and we had a great time. The scenery was beyond description. Utterly breathtaking does little to describe it. Our guide Michael was terrific. Very knowledgeable and professional. We stopped in Carcross for snacks that the guide had brought. Caribou sausage and something else kinda weird I forget. Other than the limited selection of unusual snacks I had no complaints. My only suggestion they should supply snacks a little more down to earth, something that would appeal to a greater group of people. Perhaps cheese and crackers or chocolate chip cookies or something. But the place we stopped at in Carcross had bathroom facilities and sold gelato if you can believe that. Which was excellent! How can you beat having gelato in the Yukon?

Scott and Josh are excellent tour guides on this Yukon jeep tour!!
Started out in 2014 jeeps that are clean and comfy, AND had bottled water thoughtfully supplied within!
Communication via CB radio, fun trivia and games along the way in between very interesting
information about the area of tour.
The scenery is spectacular! The drive exhilarating! I cannot say enough about how great this tour is!!
As a mother of two sons, I had some worries before the beginning of this tour. Let me set any other mommy's fears at ease:
Scott assured me that they would NEVER separate a family (of 3) and would NOT put a stranger in the jeep with us. ( LOL, I was afraid of this happening because the jeeps seat "4" and we were only "3").
Scott said the worse case scenario is a family of three would ride with the tour guide.
The jeeps are automatic transmission, and tour guides explain how to put them in four wheel drive (which is actually very easy!!)
And, most importantly, there are plenty of pottie stops!!! Lol
Scott in the lead jeep and Josh taking up the rear assures no one gets left behind !!
If I ever get the chance to visit Scagway again, I would re-do this tour in a heartbeat!!!!!
Thank you so much to SCOTT and Josh and the folks at the jeep tour for an awesome tour!
Also I would like to mention Rick, the bus driver was also pleasant and informative about life and times of a local life in Scagway!!
Loved everything about the tour!!!! Absolutely nothing bad to say!

Josh and Scott did a great job taking us from the ship into the Yukon. The Jeeps were brand new 2014 and in great condition. Josh made it fun using the CB radios so we could talk with other drivers. He explained everything we were seeing along the way and allowed us to ask questions. The scenery was breathtaking and the off roading spectacular. We have taken many tours from our cruise ship destinations and this ranks as one of our top 3. Definitely do this tour if you are in Skagway, you won't regret it.

We were met at our ship by our guide Scott and several brand new 2014 Jeep Wranglers. Scott was terrific in keeping us well informed via two way radio from his lead jeep as we headed for Carcross in the Yukon a 2+ hour drive. This is mainly a ride through the most beautiful scenery you can imagine on a two lane highway which crosses the Canadian border. Once in Carcross we stopped for a break and Scott shared some caribou sausage and Salmon dip with all on the tour, which was delicious ( there is also bottled water in the Jeeps). We then went off road for about 45 minutes and really gave the Jeeps a workout. The tour was well worth the price and I feel you see locations that most on the cruise do not. Don't forget to stamp your passport at the general store in Carcross Yukon. The stamp sits outside the store for everyone's use ( donations in the coffee can greatly appreciated). The only caution I would take under consideration is the size of the back seats and the rough ride when off roading with respect to your own physical abilities
Great excursion overall

My boyfriend and I were looking so forward to our first sailing trip together, and carefully picked our excursions. This one jumped right our at us. I wanted him to experience the Yukon in the best way possible. This trip did just that. Our guide was Scott and he kepted us entertained the entire trip. the views were specatular even in the rain and fog. The reindeer sauage was sooo good. I would only recommend that prior to departure, we would be paired up with people that would actually like to drive, so there aren't people that are stuck doing it all. Besides that it was certainly worth it.
