“Great hotel”
Reviewed August 21, 2014

We loved the hotel in the heart of pray Le Monnial. It is situated next to the fantastic Romanesque basilica. The room was rather small but as it was not expensive at all, we appreciated it very much. The reception and restaurant staff were extremely friendly and helpful! The dinner was was well-cooked and fresh - not great cuisine but yet of a solid quality. This is a hotel one would like to return to!

My husband and I had a great stay at this hotel. The staff was kind and helpful; the room was clean, spacious, modern and had a great view of the Basilica; the WiFi worked well in our 3rd floor room; and the restaurant had reasonably-priced and tasty food with a good wine list. Breakfast was delicious as well, with many items to choose from.

I didn't have a single complaint!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Basilica!

The hotel is strategically located near the Basilica and in front of the Chapel of Apparition. Ambiance is historic. Free wifi but unstable connection. Breakfast was usual - cold bread and cold cuts, cereals, coffee or hot choco and milk. Good frontdesk staff. Restroom was really old and quite uncomfortable. No shower except for tub with handheld shower. Old toilet too. Otherwise room was cozy.

This hotel is charming and historic. It has a lift and the breakfast is self-service but lots on offer to entice a reluctant diet. Rooms are a bit dated generally but adequately large, comfortable, clean and functional - rooms need updating. We booked four rooms. Only one had a good view of the Basilica, others only had narrow street views. The town is charming, not many restaurants of note (a few poor take-aways included). Ancient church, buildings, bats flying over-head, cobbled streets, lovely medieval bridge over an attractive river...

One thing.. key fobs give the original room numbers on brass but this is NOT your room number. That has to be found on the plastic card attached! We searched the hotel floors (with luggage) before going back to reception to find out where our room was!

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the Basilica

Paray le Monial is a nice stop-over if travelling in the area. We had a pleasant room at a reasonable rate. Our dinner was very good with good, friendly service. The hotel is situated in a quiet area but close to the basilica and the centre of the town.

The Hotel de la Basilique is situated just opposite of the Sacred Heart Church, where Marguerite-Marie Alacoque was presented by Lord Jesus the message of Love in the second half of the 17th century. .
The lobby is preserved in its typical French old style character of the past century. The rooms are remodelled and in modern design. Superior rooms are more spacious. Room #355 has a nice view on the basilica which is illuminated in the evening hours. However in the upper floors the strength of the Wi-Fi is insufficient. The bathroom was not ideally placed, being incorporated in the room. Room #110 on the first floor was more appropriate with separate bath room and good Wi-Fi reception. Both rooms were spaceous enough equipped with LCD TV, fridge and a writing desk.
The breakfast was richly garnished with cold cuts, cheese, fruits. Eggs can be boiled in a cooker. On the table were placed delicious fresh baguette bread and croissants. The price of € 9.50 is justified. In the evening various menus are proposed at reasonable prices. The food was cooked on order; and fortunately not as often experienced in France prepared in advance and reheated.
The hotel has its own parking which is payable. Free parking is available 150 meters from the hotel. I can recommend the hotel, the price / service level is “good”.

Room Tip: For the view upper floors, for a good Wi-Fi reception room on the 1st floor. Some rooms have an inco...

Another hotel booked online with no expectations with another nice surprise. All the staff were friendly, room and bathroom good size and clean. Had dinner & breakfast, both were excellent.
