Definitely go for the tasting menu - great value and fantastic food. Very friendly, English speaking wait-staff. Try to get a table overlooking the river if you can

Restaurant, Auberge St. Jean, in Blaignac, France - near St, Emilion. Overlooking the Dordogne river; wonderful food with excellent service; 4 of us; each ordered a different dish; my lotte (monkfish) was superb; foie gras was wicked. Our friends found this place from friends who had been there. Near St. Emilion but your GPS may have trouble with 1 way streets. Maps help. The drive through the cpuntryside is spectacular. Cost not bad with wine.

A very nice evening and the food was innovative and excellent. Crab starter was delicious as was the eel and food gras. The pigeon main looked and tasted wonderful, the desserts, especially the pear were lovely. Overall really good

Dinner at the auberge st. jean is, in our view, worth a detour (or, as a french could phrase it: "vaut le détour"). The view over the bridge and water was peaceful and inspiring, as were the creations on the menue and the food served. Quiet, friendly but very knowledgeable service of dedicated people, taking what they do seriously. The results are quite outstanding, at reasonable prices.

We have been fortunate enough to eat at this restaurant for lunch and dinner during a recent stay at chateau de courtebotte. I can safely say that these two meals were my best in France. The food is delicious and the portions are just the right size. The blending of flavours is done to perfection. The location is gorgeous and the service is excellent without being pretentious. The food is good value and the meals far better than other places where we have paid more. Definitely worth the short drive to this charming town for a lovely experience.
