It is close Colmar, which is a very nice small town to visit.

Beautiful hotel. Clean and comfortable with lovely staff. Gorgeous views overlooking vineyards, the village and the castle. The restaurant at this hotel La Table de Val-Vignes is a hidden treasure. The food cooked by Chef Christophe Schreiber is the most delicious meal we had whilst in France. Our Sommelier Claude was charming and wonderful at choosing the wine to complement each dish. We had the Chaud/froid and the Saveurs en relief for starters followed by Rusticite et gourmandise and Roule de sander et saumon aux herbes for main course. Dessert was Coqueterie ensoleillee and Clin d'oeil au terroir.
We couldn't find any reviews for this restaurant on tripadvisor as the team are working from a new menu and wow what a menu it is. I can not recommend this restaurant or the hotel highly enough and I am very fussy!

This hotel is situated between the town and the castle and next to the vineyards and offers an amazing view of all. The rooms are spacious but service could be better. Our shower cabin leaked and we were given towels to clean it up ourselves. There were only a few sheets of toilet paper left when we entered the room with no new roll which I feel is a little bit thoughtless. Not bad but there were definitely improving points. The hotel grounds and the town are beautiful!

The hotel is a former alsacian chateau. It is a fantastic property on top of a small hill with great views over the St Hippolyte village and area. The hotel doesn't have too many rooms even if it is a large property but all rooms have beautiful views. The breakfast was very nice with quite a lot of options. We enjoyed the tranquility of the place and kindness of the staff. It is a great romantic place. And one more amazing thing is that the hotel has its own chapel. Like all chateaus should have :)

As a hotel Val-vignes is very nice, the rooms are very clean and it has most of the facilities that one would need.

Maybe because I am used to travelling in other parts of the world (US, Australia, Asia-Pacific) where having a mini-fridge and having a kettle in the room is normal and expected, not have a fridge and a kettle in the room was a little "tough". Especially, since we were on a road trip with all our goodies. But nevertheless the hotel was very accommodating and they kept our food safe and well. While they could not provide us with a kettle, they did provide us with the hot water that we needed.

But what made the DIFFERENCE for me, is the history of the hotel; that it used to be a Marianist College and it is still serves as a rest home for the religious of the Society of Mary. Furthermore, a Chapel that is still functioning; being able to just sit in there to enjoy the peace and quiet in the evening was just heavenly as sitting outdoors in the morning.

The hotel is set in a historic building at the very end of the small village Saint-Hippolyte, on a 20 minutes ride to Colmar and 45 minutes ride to Strasbourg. Also on a 10 to 20 min ride, you can find lot of villages worth visiting, like Obernai, Ribeauvillé, Riquewihr, Eguisheim and others. Nestled at the footprint of the hill on which resides Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg, you get a magnificent view of the valley. The room we had was spacious, clean and heated, which we appreciated as we stayed in the hotel in the beginning of May when the mornings were cold. What my wife and me appreciated the most, was that the place is calm and peaceful, the only sounds that you hear are birds singing and a church bell. Maybe that is the reason that I can say that I can't remember if I ever slept better.
The breakfast in the hotel is with the expected quality. There is a lovely garden where you can have the breakfast, but unfortunately the weather didn’t allow us to enjoy it.
The hotel staff is very kind, so no complaints from my side.

Room tip: We booked a premium room and got one on the first floor, spacious with a magnificent view of the valley

Dear Guest,

We would like to thank you very much for the time taken to share your experience after your stay at Val-Vignes.

We are pleased to read that you have enjoyed our hotel and location in the quiet town of Saint-Hippolyte in the center of Alsace. The central position of our hôtel allows to visit a lot of typical villages in the area.
We would be very pleased to welcome you for another stay in Alsace, perhaps to have good weather this time ;-).
