“Beyond horrible service”
Review of Taj Mahal Grill

Taj Mahal Grill
Ranked #17 of 302 Restaurants in Kennesaw
Certificate of Excellence
Description: Taj Mahal Grill is a gourmet Indian restaurant located in Kennesaw, GA. We offer authentic, hand-crafted cuisine from North and South India. Our spice combinations create mouthwatering kebabs, classic tandoori favorites, and curry delights. We offer a satisfying lunch buffet, sumptuous entrees from our regular/ala carte menu, catering services, takeout (to go), and free delivery. India cuisine or Indian food encompasses a wide variety of regional cuisines native to India. Given the range of diversity in soil type, climate and occupations, these cuisines vary significantly from each other and use locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also heavily influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. The development of these cuisines have been shaped by Dharmic beliefs, and in particular by vegetarianism, which is a growing dietary trend in Indian society.

Will not be going back to this place. Gave it a try 3 times, but can't look past the blantant horrible customer service. Once, ok, but 3 times being treated horribly is enough. Customer service means a lot to me, never getting a refill even when asked, stating you don't have change for a $100, when your register is overflowing with $20s. But Above all the chip on shoulder attitude that you give to your patrons is unexceptable.(this coming from the owners daughter)...this coming from a place with sub-par food.

My wife and I have become Indian food junkies over the last few years, and up until recently had to drive over to Gwinnett or at least fight the traffic down to Swapna at Cumberland area to get our "fix". First tried Taj Mahal about 2years ago, and at that time judged it OK, but a definite step below some of the other Atlanta Indian restaurant's we had tried. But, because it was so nearby and also so very reasonably priced, we continued to occasionally visit. Over time, the quality of the food, and also the variety of the buffet has steadily improved, to the point that now it is our favorite for Indian. The food is always fresh, and obiviously a lot of effort goes into the preparation. The staff and always friendly, and your water glass never gets empty, nor your table basket of warm naan. I don't know what to say to those complaining about the food; we eat Indian every time we travel to NYC to visit our daughter, and I've found none there that are better, especially for the price.

The service was great and the appetizer our server recommended (that wasn't on the menu) was terrific. My daughter loved her mango juice beverage, but my Masala chai tea was just tepid instead of hot. After that it went further downhill with our main courses, particularly the Tandoori chicken which was very dry. Because the service was so attentive I'm writing this experience off to the chef having a bad day and we may try this restaurant again.

My husband and I are both huge fans of Indian food and were not impressed with the lunch buffet. The selection was good, but the flavors were bland. The naan was soggy. If we lived in the area, we would return to see if dining in the evening was a better experience. The staff was quick to keep our water glasses full, but otherwise seemed indifferent. We have been in Europe for the past several years and we were fortunate to eat at several Indian restaurants in London and Birmingham as well as a few others here and there in various cities. Our tastes may be skewed a bit.

Our area is not well served for some types of ethnic foods and thankfully this is changing. The Taj Mahal grill never disappoints and the food is always really good and just as requested (spice levels vary and they will adjust to your desired heat levels).

Service can be a tad slow but then why go out if not to enjoy a leisurely meal, it doesn't always need to be so rushed does it? I would rather spend time relaxing at the table than run in and out (that's where takeout is handy for those in a rush!).

I wish they served alcohol, it would be nice to have beer and wine, but their ice tea is delicious (can't be said of lots of other places).
