Kennesaw Mtn is a cool place to go for both exercise & a history lesson. It's free unlike many other similar sites. It's got a lot to offer civil war buffs - there are many historic landmarks with signage to educate you & they've even gone digital - you can use your smartphone to scan some signs & go to audio/video for more info. There are various paths to take - if you want more of a flat, easy trail go to Cheathem Hill, more moderate to challenging go to Pigeon Hill &/or Kennesaw Mtn. I've seen all ages there & it's appropriate for couples, families, friends, solo. We also take our dogs there so it's pet friendly (but remember to bring doodoo bags) & go early to avoid overheating & take water of course.

Love this park - makes a great little outing for the family. You can spend an hour or all afternoon here. Several trails, though the most popular is the hike to the top of the mountain from the visitors center. On the weekends it's a very busy trail! The mountain top trail is about a mile long, but it's quite a steep climb. I'd rate it as a moderate hike due to the incline, though no truly difficult patches. That said, kids love it - my toddler made it most of the way up on his own! And the view at the top is very cool - on a clear day you can see downtown Atlanta and even Stone Mountain in the distance. There is a shuttle available if hiking up isn't your cup of tea.

When we visited, they had an encampment set up and did a couple of cannon demonstrations. It's always cool to see a cannon!

Parking can be tough at the main lot on the weekends, so you may have to park a little down the road (they have a large overflow lot about .5 mile away) if it's busy.

Dog friendly, kid friendly, nice views, great historical information available... all-in-all a favorite destination.

I like the park, don't get me wrong with the rating. I just was not wowed by it. I do need to get back when the birds are migrating thru, as it is a known stopping point.

An excellent park, with a great view of Atlanta from the mountain top. Parking was a bit of a problem on the weekend, as the lot is too small for the size of the crowds it attracts.

We go here about once a year to walk the trails and enjoy the sights from the top of the mountain. If you're a history buff then you'll enjoy this free park.
