It is our first time in Costa Rica and the cloud forest was the first stop of our trip. I would recommend this experience to anyone who want to really disconnect with the busy, noisy and the sometime superficial world we live in. No TV in the rooms, wood fire place and just you and nature. As they say here Pura Vida! I understand why they say that now. The restaurant is superb and the staff is very good and friendly. I recommend the trail through the forest with Ingrid who is just an incredible guide and really loves what she does. You can see it! After the walk a nice Swedish massage at the spa will get you in the mood for a great meal. We will come back for sure!

Don't let the 9km drive on a twisty, bumpy road fool you - once you enter the gates of the Villa Blanca you are in for a treat! The grounds are beautifully landscaped and the casitas are well-appointed. You can explore the nature trail, visit the dairy, find serenity in the chapel. And everyone is so nice and helpful!

Room Tip: The hotel is remote, but so very beautiful!

Stayed here for two nights in November 2013. Nice and peaceful and a great atmosphere in the cloud forest.

Arrived late (about 11pm) to a friendly welcome and immediately enjoyed the nocturnal wildlife sounds.

The next day we had a nice simple self-guided walk around the forest area. Good food in the restaurant, and had fun playing on the free pool table. They also had a very authentically old fashioned small cinema, although we didn't use it.

We were 7 members of our family experiencing Costa Rica for the first time: our 2 children and 3 grandchildren age 10, 7 and 6. Villa Blanca was our first stop of a 9 day trip, The hotel arranged for pickup at the San Jose airport followed by an hour drive to Villa Blanca. Being in a cloud forest is amazing. It is always damp and wet but that did not stop us. We were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff, all smiling. We had 3 casitas for our rooms. The casitas are very spacious with bed/beds, couch, rocking chairs, and a fireplace. They were most comfortable. The activities there were many: hummingbird feedings, cow milking, horseback riding, movie theatre, arenal volcano tour and hot springs, research center, night hike, hike around the property. Happy hour was everynight and enjoyed by all. Sitting around the two fireplaces in the lobby and talking to other guests added to the ambience. The meals at the Villa were delicious and average priced. The servers, Jonathon and Juarez(I think) were so great with the kids. There were always kids menus. The hot chocolate was a hit with the kids. Ingrid was our tour guide for the Arenal tour and was terrific. We bought a lot of local fruit in a local market to serve to our kids. Jonathon cut everything up for a beautiful presentation. The kids enjoyed tasting, some they liked and some they did not like.
Three days is about right at Villa Blanca. And then we were off to Si Como No.
