With San Ramón being a more typical Costa Rican town, and not considered a resort or tourist area, I was a little worried about the place we were going to be staying. I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. Most of the rooms are in private cottages that sit atop of a mountain. All of the buildings are top quality and very modern. The main house has a 270 degree view of the surrounding mountains and valleys, all the way down to the Pacific. With the altitude and latitude, the temperature is perfect all day long. Overall, the facilities feel like a mountaintop resort, but with the care and service of a couple owned bed and breakfast. The Ackley's are some of the most interesting and nice people I have ever met. Whether you plan to spend the week relaxing onsite or exploring the greater San Ramón area, I can guarantee you this is the place to stay.

My wife and I stayed in the one-bedroom cabin in mid-May. The views were breath-taking - you could see the ocean in one direction, the hills of San Ramon in another. It was very quiet, weather was awesome and the cabin was extremely clean, well maintained with all the amenities. Actually, this was our first bed and breakfast and one of the best parts was having breakfast with Tom (the owner). He cooks a great mix of American and local. We are definitely coming back.

My parents and I were planning our first trip to Costa Rica. We weren't looking to stay in a hotel but rather a more relaxed atmosphere of renting a house and then we stumbled upon Vista Valverde B&B. Everything about the B&B was perfect. The location, the accommodations, the view, the breakfast and of course Tom & Sue (and Tequila). The location was perfect, central to everything we had on our list of sights to see and things to do. We were within no more than 2 hours of everything we had planned. My parents and I stayed in Palm Cabin which was just perfect. Comfortable, clean and the perfect place to relax in the evening from our adventures. The view is just incredible. Breathtaking. The grounds of the B&B are beautiful. Tom & Sue made our stay so enjoyable. Wonderful breakfasts and a wonderful dinner our last night there. Great company! A perfect vacation!

When you are visiting the interior this is where you want to be for at least a few days. Within hours of arriving at "Gringo Tomas" and Sue's (as they are known locally) beautiful home in it's spectacular setting it felt like we were visiting very old and dear friends. Tom is very knowledgeable of the area and with his command of Spanish proved invaluable planning our tour. They are both very artistic, creative and generous people and obviously delight in what they do and they do a great job. I will make sure that every future visit to Costa Rica includes a stay at Vista Valverde!

From the moment you meet Tom and Susan you realize this is going to be a pleasant experience...and THEN you see the view and the accommodations and realize you have made an incredibly wise choice to stay here.Traveling with our son and daughter-in-law, the two bedroom Palms cabin suited our needs perfectly. Words simply cannot describe the beauty of the panoramic views. From the comfort of your rocking chairs you have spectacular views of the Nicoya Peninsular miles away, the Bay, and the Pacific Ocean. Our accommodations were clean, well appointed, and the kitchen nicely equipped. Breakfast was eagerly anticipated each morning because it was delicious!!! Huge platters of fresh fruit, muffins, bacon and Costa Rican coffee greeted us each am while hot delicious entrees were coming out of the oven or off the stovetop! These people know how to cook! We were at Vista Valverde for ten days and benefited from Tom and Susan 's generous attitude in their sharing of helpful information on all things "moving to or touring Costa Rica!". They love nature, music, art, cooking and each other! We highly recommend this experience to all and look forward to staying there again in the future.

Room Tip: They are all good and look even better in person.

John & Carol--guests like you are why we do what we do. Your fabulous attitudes, easy-going natures, and your excitement about being in Costa Rica, make it a pleasure to have you as guests-turned-family. When our guests arrive as strangers, and leave as good friends, it makes our lives joyful and rewarding. Thanks for your kind words... but mostly for your wonderful spirits. We hope to see you soon in your new digs!!! Tom & Susan

When we decided to return to Costa Rica, another stay at Vista Valverde was a requirement. First of all, Tom & Sue have devoted a tremendous amount of time in Vista Valverde. The double cabinia is perfect for two couples. it's close to their house but still private enough. Sue spends a considerable amount of time preparing a breakfast for us....at any time! The landscaping is beautiful. Thank you, Tom & Sue.
