We stayed here two nights. We got one room on the 8th floor, but the view of the city. The first day we were there just for breakfast, so we did order what we wanted. Second day there were several guests, so it was the breakfast buffet which was quite OK. The room was small with two single beds standing in a row ... not so romantic :) The room was clean. We ate dinner in the restaurant / pub on the 1st floor. The food was just ok, but relatively expensive to be in a small town in the Czech Republic. The hotel was just OK, but not more than that.

Because of a long-term neglect in their room refurbishings, many rooms feature "the everlasting breath of the end of real socialismus & communismus times," hanging and oozing from all over their rooms. I'm not even mentioning such novelties as "The Breath of the Late '70s, ABBA Style" still found in some far-reaching rooms. Room keys surely remembering Brezhnev are still used to enter and lock the guest rooms as far as the year of 2012. Since I refused to occupy several rooms in a row, due to their unacceptably ancient furnishings, I was finally offered a decent dwelling room an Apartment room, and thus my comparisment can begin.
Lack of Double Room world-wide standards is quickly obvious to one, they are all very narrow Twin Rooms. All rooms furnished with same cheap beds, which are often arranged foot-to-foot, instead of being side-by-side as usually, and dressed in some rather cheap and thin bed linen and very flimsy thin pillows. Toilette and shower stalls are the classical average fare. Neither bad nor stellar, without any frills. However, hotel's towels are real let-down. Being morbidly thin and chidden-sized, they can barely function above basic hand-towel. Soap bars are same as in Brezhnev's era. And somehow strangely, bathroom mirrors are fully detachable. A lousy teeny CTR TV-set from early '90s with 4-5 channels is the only entertainment source, with some of the most truly horrid signal reception I have ever seen in any minor or major city hotel worldwide. And I'm not even mentioning the utter lack of any refrigerator box.
Suite Rooms, which are located in the building's corners, where I ultimately slept several nights, are furnished as equally as their lesser brethren. BUT, surprisingly, they offer the unusual luxury of having a hardwired CAT-5 LAN direct-internet connection, relatively a fast-one, I clocked it at 254 kBps. But, no-kidding, this cable is plugged directly in the back-side of some of the most unbelievably archaic mid-'90s desktop WinPC I ever saw running since elementary school, and connected to an similarly archaic 13" color CRT monitor, and running Windows95 (sic!), with an absolute lack of any monitoring or antivirus software whatsoever. It made me laugh out loud :-) Thanks God I had my laptop with me.
Luckily, there can also get free Wi-Fi internet connection in Hotel's Lobby area.
Right vertical half of the building is converted to a virtual hi-rise office building, featuring numerous company offices, nail & hair & spa services, and other numerous commercial businesses and occupants. The left vertical half of the building features the actual hotel rooms, and without any other frills, like ice-maker or so.
Hotel building's first three floors feature socializing areas. I suggest the Lobby Bar, and the Billiard Bar on the 3rd floor. Avoid irish Bulldog Bar, as it constantly smells of refried frying oil, a fact agreed by my local friends as well. Avoid Tex-Mex restaurant as well, as it offers anything but czech fares, and has severely declined in quality in the last several years.
As written by others, this hotel's guest accommodations are rather sucky. Furthermore, it is only by its unbeatable location in the city's centre, what makes it such a rather convenient, if not unpleasant place to bivouac in Zlin's centre for a short stay-over. On the other hand, their accommodation price range of 1600 - 2500 CZK (about 65 - 100 euros) makes them quite unsavory deal, compared to similar offerings elsewhere nearby.
I stayed March 2009, traveled on business. And again in early 2011, mid-2012, and Christmas 2012. Always met there with some friends for further social activities.

Decent hotel, reception staff friendly and helpful. One member of the bar staff was very surly and decidely unhelpful on two different night to multiple members of our party.

There is no mounting on the bathroom wall for the shower heads and no shower curtain. Bit bizzare I thought when you could have them put in for a few euro.

Otherwise the rooms were pleasant enough.

We had a double room on the 6th floor of the Hotel Moskva in Zlin. We were initially a little worried (but intrigued!) after reading the previous reviews but the hotel was really a pleasant experience. You do not go to Zlin or the Hotel Moskva for old-world charm but the reception was pleasant, the room clean and the breakfast better than average. We arrived very late at night and were able to get dinner at the bar. As others have mentioned, the bar and public areas are very smoky.

The location is perfect and we found the staff very able to help in English. The hotel is a relic of a by-gone time and you should not expect the place to be like other hotels. It is unique but filled with good-will, eccentricities and fun experiences.

Well located. Rather pricy wtr. small Zlin town. Service correct. Not possible to get any promotion or discount. Bar/restaurant often filled in with cigarette's smoke.

Perfunctory rooms, adequate breakfast, and reception staff who couldn't care less. A request made to one shift was not passed on to the next. A simple request regarding splitting the payment was met with the response: "Sure, Sure, I understand", which seems to be Czech for: "You seem to be talking but who gives a damn; I'll just do what I want." You are not spoiled for choice with accommodation in Zlin, and the Moskva's central location is hard to beat. The quirky pizzeria on the second floor was fun, and the people-watching was very interesting, but travellers looking for creature comforts rather than a Soviet theme-park style experience need to go elsewhere.

This hotel needs to realise that the Communist times had finished already! The time stopped in the early 80´s in this hotel. Furnishing, equipment, staff behaviour and so on. In my room, the very inconvenient bathroom smelled like urine, the minibar was empty, you couldnt adjust the heating because they removed the controlling button. When I wanted to pay, the staff ansvered that it is impossible at the moment because they were changing shifts. The reception ladies need 30 minutes to change their chairs. The breakfast is low ranked 3 star - like all the hotel. I recommend You staying here just if it is necessary. Pleas support the change, dont stay in this hotel. The wonderful building is worth better service. What is positive is a very nice view on the city. The architecture of the city is absolutely unique.
