“If you ever imagined Paradise (that rains at times), The Orca islands Cabin is Paradise with a capital P.”

The Orca island Yurts are all owned and operated by a family of Swiderskis. They were so accommodating and pleasant, we knew we were in the right place. A short boat trip to the island and we came upon what I can only describe as paradise. The clear blue water around the mountains, the puffins and the porpoises met us on the way to the island. It was stunning. For the life off the grid, the Orca Island Cabins are above a five star hotel and we instantly were in love with this island. It was raining non-stop, but it was not even a consideration NOT to explore this beautiful island. Provided with the courtesy of fishing rods, we set out to fish and caught about 10 different fish, having black cod for lunch and coho salmon for dinner. Suddenly, we were greeted by a whale! This juvenile humpback came to visit us every day since, and woke us up every morning, always waving goodnight in the evening. We finished our trip with a sunny day, kayaking to a beautiful waterfall, returning to a camp fire and simply getting lost in relaxation on this beautiful island. Of note, the composting toilet was surprisingly (to a novice) the most pleasant experience. Not only was there no smell, knowing that it was not harmful to the environment in any way made you almost feel proud of your own human excretions. If you were lucky enough to have Simon staying on the island with you, you would have learned about the island, the family, the history and you would leave the island, shedding a tear and smiling with your soul for you have just experienced paradise on earth.

Honestly...this is THE BEST place I have EVER stayed....hands down. Prepare to be in awe of everything around you. My boyfriend and I stayed for two days in the yurts and wished we could have stayed longer. We spent those days kayaking, paddle boarding, building a bonfire, cooking out, and hanging out with the other people on the island. No phones, no TV, no internet, it was amazing. I just can't say enough about this place. The owners and their sons/daughter in law were so lovely to meet and everyone was so accomodating. We WILL be back.
