We had booked this accommodation for its novelty value - ie staying in a yurt on an island. We had hoped to walk but you need to realise you can't as the island isn't much more than a rock! Having said that we had a great time just relaxing and enjoying the scenery. The kayak hire is based on an honesty basis. As a family we did 2 hours each on two days and were charged a full day hire rate of $30/kayak. As we had children we wouldn't have been out long anyway and felt that consideration should have been given to this. (not that we argued). That aside of all the places we stayed during our month in Alaska our children enjoyed Orca Island the best - we would certainly recommend it,
