It was beautiful. We were amazed by it. I took a guided hike and learned alot about plants, glaciers and the general area. My guide Ann was very helpful and had a wonderful escort named branden.
We loved it

We took the 6-hour boat tour, and it was fantastic! It was everything I could want from a week-long tour packed into a short time and a much lower price! ($169 in June). We had a beautiful day and spotted mountain goats, sea lions, puffins, and a pod of Northwest Humpback whales bubble feeding. Wow! No jacket needed when we were stopped, but once the boat got going it got colder, especially as we neared the glacier. The view of Holgate glacier was fantastic, and we handled a piece of pack ice as well. Unforgettable!

From a distance away by boat, we could hear what sounded like thunder. It was the sound of this glacier breaking apart and "calving" into the depths of the water below. Suddenly, gulls swarmed the waters, gathering shrimp that were forced to the the surface from the thrust of the ice hitting the water. Amazing and beautiful.
