“spectacular view, artful lodging”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

We stayed in the Low Tide room and the view is of Resurrection Bay and the mountains. The rooms are creatively designed and decorated; Alan and Alison did this themselves -- they live in the house next door. I'd thought that maybe the inspiration was Italian but Alison is from the Southwest. Nothing has blocked our view. Seated on the living area couch, I don't see the cars parked out front and there are no cars on the other side of the road (which they also own). The bedroom is dark, but for us that's a plus -- Alaska has a lot of light into the night!! It's a couple of miles out of town on a gravel road in a camping area (which sometimes has some noise), but that also makes it very convenient to the Alaska Sealife Center which is on the southside.

Room Tip: The High Tide room would be quieter; there is some plumbing noise from above.

What a great place to stay while visiting Seward! We stayed in the High Tide room for 3 nights in mid-June. The view of the bay and mountains from the balcony and huge front window is lovely. We saw a sea otter just off the beach on our first day there and two hummingbirds frequented the balcony feeder. We enjoyed the cereals, granola, yogurt and waffle mix provided in the room for breakfast. The wood-work and tile-work in the room and bathroom are very nice and give a cozy Alaska experience. The king bed was comfy too. As others have noted, this is a 5-10 minute drive down a gravel road outside Seward. We were very skeptical as we drove through the sketchy campground area, but it was completely worth it once we arrived at the Inn. FYI - there are no blackout curtains so bring an eye mask for those bright Alaska nights!

This comfortable and clean two flat in Lowell Point is well run by a young couple who live next door. Stayed for three nights in the well appointed Low Tide room which has a nice porch and a view of the Bay and its overlooking mountains. Only two doors down from Millers Landing, the inn provides easy access to kayaking and fishing trips in Resurrection Bay. Two issues: the inn's popularity requires you to book well in advance, and breakfast, while ample, needs some fresh foods, such as fresh fruit or bread.

My husband and I have nothing but rave reviews for this great B&B home of Alan and Allison. We had a wonderful time there, relaxing, having rafting and fishing adventures.

The 2 mile drive on a dirt road hugging Resurrection Bay surely indicated we were off the beaten track. What a find! We selected the "Low Tide" room simply because we did not want stairs to climb - although I think the view from a 2nd floor vantage point would have been slightly better. Still, the view of Resurrection Bay out front from our window was spectacular with the snow covered mountains on the far shore and the fishing boats tied up off shore. Be sure to observe the AK tradition and take shoes off when entering - a great idea that we want to continue with in our home.

The Low Tide room had a nicely decorated bedroom and the ceiling was made in the shape and contours of the fluke of a whale. Nice rope trim. Alan did a great job with the large bathroom with walk-in tiled shower. The beds were very comfortable and the room had decent space for clothes. The gas fireplace added much charm and heat when we needed it. Towel racks were really novel and a nice touch. So nice to sit on the front porch and watch humming birds and the boats go by and look for whales.

Alan and Allison provided you with everything you need in the kitchen area for breakfast, or snacks. We should have looked and did an inventory, because we went out and bought things in Safeway that we did not need - butter and half and half. They supplied a frig, microwave oven, teapot, coffee maker, complete set of plates and cups, glasses and all utensils - even a container of waffle mix and a waffle iron! The waffles were great with local blueberries and strawberries!

Guest should note that in Seward - about 2 miles back into town, there is a large convenient Safeway supermarket and 2 ACE hardware stores for everything else you need. By the way, the best halibut (fish & chips) in Seward is Chin_ _ks hands down. We tried them all and they are the best.

It was so nice to live in a peaceful, quiet friendly house instead of the huge impersonal crowded hotels and motels in down town Seward. While there, be sure to go horse trail riding, Kenai Fjord National Park boat tour, and visit Exit Glacier Area. Alaska Paddle Inn was the best place to stay in Seward. Of course, we would go back in a second.
Highly recommended.

Room Tip: There's only 2 to choose from: Low and High Tide Room. High Tide is on 2nd floor and commands a...

This place was perfect for our stay. It's a few miles outside of Seward, but that's actually kind of nice and the 5-10 minute drive is beautiful anyway. We stayed in the Low Tide room on the bottom floor. There's only one other room above you. Our view was still just fine.

The view of the mountains across the bay most of all is absolutely stunning - saw some sea otters out there too. The room is also beautiful inside though. We loved having a little fireplace. They provide some breakfast items for you to have at your convenience if you wish. The owners live right next door so they aren't far if you need anything. There is a little area across the street that they own, where there is a fire pit with seats around, and dry logs and kindling provided. It was almost always really quiet and peaceful. The only thing that wasn't great was the construction going on on the road out in front of the inn, but that was just bad luck on our part! Nothing anyone could do about that.

I feel like this is more of a real Alaskan experience (short of camping I suppose) and I wouldn't have wanted to stay anywhere else. Don't stay in a hotel if you can get a room here. They book up fast!

Room Tip: The High Tide room probably has an even better view of the bay, but down in the Low Tide room we had...

First, the pictures don't do this little B&B justice. The woodworking, lovely bathroom and framed art and photographs are not featured yet make this place very special. The Egyptian cotton sheets, thick thirsty towels and overall cleanliness rank with any place. The breakfast items are delicious and plentiful. The location is spectacular (even though you drive by a funky campground and bait shop) with a view of Resurrection Bay in all of its glory. Enjoyed everything about this place!!!

We spent our 25th wedding anniversary at the Paddle Inn. The view is like a postcard overlooking Ressurection Bay and the location is ideal for peace and quiet. Alan and Alison were attentive to every detail when they designed, decorated and supplied this bed and breakfast. Can't imagine a better quality B&B for the price...it is a GREAT deal. It was very clean and the king bed was outstanding in comfort. There is so much to experience in Seward and the Paddle Inn was so nice that it was somewhat a tyranny to decide should we go out or stay in. Reserve your room today! Your wife will absolutely love it.
