“Exceptional value and great views!”
Reviewed May 17, 2010

First off, the harbor and mountain views from all the seating is amazing. The staff was attentive and friendly. The salmon was prepared perfectly and the bar was well stocked and wine selections were good. For dessert , the Blackberry Cobbler will make you want to to come back each and every day..

To put it simply, if you're going to be visiting Seward, you would be making a mistake not to stop at Chinook's.

“Great food and friendly staff”
Reviewed March 12, 2010

We ate at Chinook's during our trek through Alaska last year. The staff was friendly & efficient. My wife has some extra dietary needs and they were very accommodating. I would recommend the stuffed halibut with the king crab legs as an add-on. The black & blue steak was also very good if you are tired of seafood, as we were after a month long stay. Oh, and congrats to our great server who was quite pregnant & I'm sure has delivered her baby by now!

“Disappointing To Say The Least”
Reviewed October 16, 2009

After much research and discussion our party decided to dine at the Chinook the last night in Seward.
It seemed as though the staff was more interested in their personal conversations and plans for the weekend rather than customer service. Two dishes were sent back being presented cold with the King Crab still frozen. One dish that was sent back returned over cooked and vegetable actually burnt. When the person in our party sent it back the second time the cook or cooks in the kitchen began swearing and banging things. We decided to leave. A very expensive disappointing experience after so much hype and expectation. In two weeks in Alaska eating in mom and pops joints to four star restaurants this was the only bad experience. Some other members in our tour group ate at Ray's on the same evening and had a wonderful but expensive dining experience.

“Great seafood and wonderful views.”
Reviewed September 27, 2009

My wife and I had dinner at Chinooks, which was very close to our hotel. The place is very nice, we were seated by the window, and our server was awesome, I followed here suggestions and had a very wonderful time there.
Even though there is a huge bar close to the main dinning room, the place is quiet. There are 2 large TVs featuring animal documentaries, and music is not very loud. Desserts are also very good. A pretty good option and not as expensive as other places in town.

“Great food, great view, a little pricey...”
Reviewed September 12, 2009

We had dinner at Chinooks during our stay in Seward. The food was delicious, the service was outstanding, the view was amazing, but the price was a bit steep.

We both had salmon dishes with rice and vegetables. The fish was prepared wonderfully - flavorful and not too dry. I had a cajun spiced salmon that was perfectly seasoned - spicy, but not too much so. The vegetables and rice were cooked perfectly as well. The portions were fairly large, but not ridiculously huge. They also offered a wide range of local beers and wine selections. Dessert looked delicious, but we didn't have room for it.

The view from the restaurant is spectacular, and really contributes to the atmosphere. We were lucky enough to get a table next to the window overlooking the boat harbor and the mountains in the distance.

The price was a little bit of a buzz kill. While the restaurant is probably no more expensive than others in the area, as we found Alaskan restaurants to be pretty heavy on the pocketbook in general, it was still a bit more than we wanted to pay for a weeknight dinner. For two dinners and two beers, the bill came to $73 including tax but not tip.

We were also a bit confused by the fact that there are fermentors in their front, glass window - making it seem as if they brew their own beer, but they only offer beers from other local breweries. Perhaps they used to brew their own and don't anymore... ?
