If you choose the local catch then food is good . As in all of Alaska everyting is overpriced.

After 7 days on a cruise boat, we were pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant that was fabulous! The halibut & fries=outstanding! Best food at any port we visited!!! Will go back when we visit Seward again!!

Dining at Chinook's was a highlight of my family's trip to Seward. It was hard to say what was better: the food, the service, or the view from their massive ceiling to floor windows. There is also a second story and it was worth the wait to get a seat upstairs. Since the restaurant is directly over the harbor, we got to see all kinds of activity. The charter fishing boats were just coming back in for the night, there were sea lions playing in the water, and counted no less than 5 bald eagles sitting on sailboat masts. During our week in Alaska we had a lot of crummy fish and chips and watery clam chowder. Luckily, on our last night, several Seward locals insisted we try Chinooks. We shared dishes of smoked salmon linguine, stuffed halibut, fish and chips (THE BEST with a Panko batter!), clam chowder and this really unique crab bisque. Needless to say, Chinook' restored our belief that Alaskans know how to cook a fish. Prices were a touch higher than other places, but it was absolutely worth it!! Service was unpretentious and friendly. We felt comfortable, welcomed, and unrushed. I even heard that the owner cooks and his wife is part of the waitstaff. What a SUPER family run restaurant. Do not miss out when you go to Seward! Now, if only I can get takeout delivered to the lower 48?

i've had the chance to eat at chinooks multiple times and greatly enjoyed it every time! The service is fast, servers friendly and their seafood is amazing! You can also get a good view of the harbor from almost any table in the restaurant. If you're visiting seward and want to have a reasonably priced delicious alaskan meal this would be the first restaurant i would recommend. I've also tried a few of the other seafood restaurants in town and found them to be slightly overpriced and of lesser quality.

We ate here one of our 3 nights in Seward. The food was solidly good though if you only have 1 night, Rays is a little better. Nice view of the harbour if you can get a table by the window. The TV with the non stop infomercial about an Alaska video for sale gets a bot obnoxious after awhile.
