“Learn about the sealife without getting sea sick”

They have a very nice display of the indiginous sea creatures and a large aviary. The underwater viewing is very interesting and calming, like a home aquarium.

“Always a delight!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 26, 2013

We love stopping here when we are in Seward, they had a few new things since the last time we were there. Fun areas for the kids to explore, plenty of education and a great hand on touch pool. The staff (or volunteers) were educated and enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge. They have a discount for AK residents and a membership option which if we went twice would pay for itself. Overall fun time. The downside, Woody and the baby were not on display. Woody is always the highlight, especially because in the fall he has his winter weight and is huge!

“Excellent Museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2013

Very well done; and entertaining. Watch the stranded seal lions recuperating and playing; see the water fowl being fed and diving for food in the two story tanks; watch the other Alaskan sea life swimming and frolicking; touch the various species in the touch pool. so much to do here that will be interesting for adults and children. Reminds me of the quality and breadth of the Monterey Bay Aquarium, which is quite a compliment.

“Nice place, especially when its raining”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2013

It was drizzling so we checked out the Sealife Center and surprisingly it wasn't too busy. We were there on a day when there wasn't a ship in port and we went around 4 in the afternoon. The birds, seals, and other animals were fun to watch both above water level and below water level. There was a bird that would swim below the water for several minutes at a time that was fascinating to watch. Overall this is a good place to see animals and learn about their habitats.

“Nice Setting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2013

I've been here a few times and each time I visit I purchase a membership. I know that costs me more than a one-day ticket, but the money goes to a good cause, and you get a discount in the gift shop! Another benefit is that the membership is tax deductible!

There are many educational exhibits and you can see some of the marine life that has been rescued. I love sea otters and we have spotted some in the wild in the area. Parking is free and just a short walk away. There is a nice enclosure for puffins and other birds, as well as seal and sea lion exhibits. There are some beautiful views of Resurrection Bay off the back deck.

There are discounts available for Alaska residents, AAA members, military, and seniors. The center is open daily, except for Thanksgiving and Christmas. There is a small cafe and the gift shop sells a variety of items, in all price ranges.
