What more needs to be said. There's a reason its currently #1 on TA for Seward eateries. A great breakfast served by uniquely charming hosts. If you like crepes, you will love this place. If you don't like crepes, this is the place to give them a try again. This is not your local IHOP, by any stretch of the imagination.

We decided to stop in for breakfast on our way out of Seward for Denali. We missed the turn off of Exit Glacier road, like, twice. The nice woman down the road at the Exit Glacier Lodge directed me back to the correct establishment. From the moment you turn into the drive, you know that you're in for a different experience. The property looked more like a private homestead than a business...in a good sort of way. We were greeted by our host and hostess (Yvonne and Janet) as soon as we walked across the threshold and into their breakfast room. And what a really cool room it was! Filled with books, knick-knacks, old diving equipment, plenty of neat things to keep your interest while you wait for breakfast to cook. We thought we had interrupted a private breakfast at first, as Yvonne was sitting at the table with guests who were just finishing up. We were warmly told that we were "just in time" for breakfast. Janet brought us the menus and explained the size of their crepes. While we did split two savory crepes (and one dessert crepe) amongst the 4 of us, they were so good, I could've easily have eaten a whole one on my own. We ordered the smoked salmon crepe (special of the day), a Crepe Vegetarienne and the Crepe aux Fraises Chocolat for dessert. Each bite of each crepe was sheer delight. Yvonne entertained us with his wisecracks and stories while he did his delectable artwork at the crepe griddle. He did apologize for his "behavior" a few times...I'm not sure why...we found the both of them to be delightful breakfast companions.

Seward is a great place to visit. Charming small town, the beauty of Resurrection Bay, and great food from proud proprietors like Yvonne & Janet van Driessche.

Our guide Teresa of Zirkel the World took us to Le Barn Appetit in June for an amazing Breakfast while in Seward Alaska. It's in this beautiful red barn. The decor is amazing. It's a living history of the owners life. I loved the Brass Dive Helmet to the right of our table.
Yvon the Chef is from Belgium and had me laughing till I cried with his Jokes & comments as he sat behind his very impressive Crepe station. Now for the Crepes, We were told that the crepes were very large & we might want to share. We ordered the Crepe Southwest with
Tomato/Green Chili /Onions/Avocado/Cheese/ & salsa on the side. Amazing, it looked like a submarine, resting in this beautful long plate. We also sampled our friends Crepe aux Fraises Chocolat, so decadent. If I ever come back to Seward, I am not only going to eat here, I am going to stay here as well. They are a B&B , & yes you get the crepes every morning for free.

All crepes were good. The savory ones were made with buckwheat. They taste very different and more crunchy. The sweet ones were just amazing. Perfect balance. They are big so please share :)

Great little place for delicious crepes. Wonderfully and colorful couple are the chef and waitress. Not a fast food place. Don't bother if in a hurry.

This is one of those places that you want to rave about your great experience, but at the same time, you don't want to tell anyone for fear that it will be over run with tourists. This place is definitely a must do and can easily be worked into a trip to exit glacier or a dog sled tour (I recommend Turning Heads over Seavey). It's also close enough to town that it is an easy drive. We had a group of 6 & I don't know how we did it because we shared (well at least most of us), but we ended up eating a total of 6 of these monster crepes because we had such a hard time choosing. We had the reindeer sausage, the beef, the Bavarian creme, strawberry, strawberry-rhubarb, and the spiced apple. All were excellent and came out one at a time like a work of art on gorgeous Polish plates. The coffee and hot chocolate are also terrific. Even better than the crepes (if possible) is the company of the charming owners. We laughed ourselves silly and were totally enthralled with their interesting life stories and those of their five children. Please don't stop if you want to grab a quick bite. This is a destination in and of itself and if you are the inpatient type or can't stand to wait for a table, food or the bill, the charm of this place will be lost on you.
