What more needs to be said. There's a reason its currently #1 on TA for Seward eateries. A great breakfast served by uniquely charming hosts. If you like crepes, you will love this place. If you don't like crepes, this is the place to give them a try again. This is not your local IHOP, by any stretch of the imagination.
We decided to stop in for breakfast on our way out of Seward for Denali. We missed the turn off of Exit Glacier road, like, twice. The nice woman down the road at the Exit Glacier Lodge directed me back to the correct establishment. From the moment you turn into the drive, you know that you're in for a different experience. The property looked more like a private homestead than a business...in a good sort of way. We were greeted by our host and hostess (Yvonne and Janet) as soon as we walked across the threshold and into their breakfast room. And what a really cool room it was! Filled with books, knick-knacks, old diving equipment, plenty of neat things to keep your interest while you wait for breakfast to cook. We thought we had interrupted a private breakfast at first, as Yvonne was sitting at the table with guests who were just finishing up. We were warmly told that we were "just in time" for breakfast. Janet brought us the menus and explained the size of their crepes. While we did split two savory crepes (and one dessert crepe) amongst the 4 of us, they were so good, I could've easily have eaten a whole one on my own. We ordered the smoked salmon crepe (special of the day), a Crepe Vegetarienne and the Crepe aux Fraises Chocolat for dessert. Each bite of each crepe was sheer delight. Yvonne entertained us with his wisecracks and stories while he did his delectable artwork at the crepe griddle. He did apologize for his "behavior" a few times...I'm not sure why...we found the both of them to be delightful breakfast companions.
Seward is a great place to visit. Charming small town, the beauty of Resurrection Bay, and great food from proud proprietors like Yvonne & Janet van Driessche.
