The first thing I noted on Trip Advisor was that Adams Street was #8. This should NOT be the case! It should be the #1 place to stay in Seward!
We spent two nights at this B&B. Judy was kind enough to provide transportation for us from the docks, as we'd cruised in on the Celebrity Millennium. Our room... the Green room, was fantastic! The bed was super comfy and everything was meticulously clean. The room's layout was well-planned, as the sink is in the main room so that two people can simultaneously get ready for sight-seeing; one dressing in the room, the other in the shower/bath. This is a cozy place to stay, limiting guests and not over-crowding them. We both liked that.
In the evening, we had a lovely fire in the great room, which again... is very well-designed. One larger room is separated by the fire-place into a second room, allowing several guests to read (in a snuggly library!) or to take a nap while others visit. Really nice. Totally caters to guests' preferences.
Owner Judy was joined by husband Don the weekend we were there, and it was truly a joy to get to know this couple. They are native Alaskans who both have a deep love for the Seward community and are pleased to share that passion with guests. They told us of an amazing little spot to order out fresh halibut fish and chips and display really helpful Alaska magazines and trip-planners available for guest-use. Judy has competed and WON the Mt. Marathon race! Be sure to ask her about it during your visit! The mountain can be seen while sitting at the breakfast table!
And speaking of Breakfast? Day one was a lovely, light homemade blueberry coffee-cake, fruit, yogurt, and eggs. While sitting at the spacious table, one can look out over Resurrection Bay and watch boats enter and exit. The view of the mountains beyond is stunning. Day two was a traditional bacon/eggs feast with homemade blueberry scones to DIE FOR!!!
My poor husband caught a bug during his visit and was ill. Judy's patience/kindness towards our situation was most appreciated. While the rest of our group did some sight-seeing, my husband was able to remain at the house to rest, which certainly helped him recoup to enjoy the rest of our trip.
So, I hope my readers can see the reasons why this B&B should be #1 and not #8! Because this home is small, be sure to book ahead. You won't want to miss Adams Street B&B!!! Judy and Don... we'll be sure to book again on our next Alaskan odyssey!
