“View Nice Cabins”
Reviewed September 15, 2011

My husband & I stayed at the Abode Well Cabins in early September. The cabins are beautiful & well crafted. The beds are very comfortable and the linens were very nice. We stayed in a "couple cabin" and there was plenty of room for us & luggage. It was nice to have free use of the washer/dryer since we were they mid way through our two week trip. The room had a small fridge/coffee maker/tea maker and a table for two. We would have liked a toaster but we made due just fine. They cabins were just down the road from town. I would not have wanted to stay in town as our cabin looked much nicer than the options in town. We enjoyed our free tour of the Sled dog kennels. I would definetly stay there again if we went to Seward.

Room Tip: Couples cabins also had a roll away bed which would be good for a child

We recently stayed at Abode Well Cabins, associated with Seavey's Ididaride ... it was fun to see the sled-dogs: a sled-ride and tour of the kennel area is complimentary for guests at Abode Well.

We found the cabin functional, warm and clean. The beds were adequate, the shower worked ... all in all quite serviceable. On the downside, the interior was dark as the cabins are under the trees (and what lighting there was used low-powered fluorescent tubes, providing less than adequate light). We also found the kitchen very poorly equipped, as though someone put a bunch of kitchen gear there, but never actually used it.

On the plus side, washer and drier were available nearby, the cabins were quiet (we heard the dogs in the distance, but much less than I would have thought) and comfortable too.

Also, compared to other similar accommodations, it was relatively inexpensive.

This was the favorite place we stayed in the three weeks we've been in Alaska. One night is not long enough. From the cabin setting to the inside layout, we found it met all our needs and more. Exceptionally clean. We loved the windows.

We just finished a lovely two-day stay at the Abode Well Cabins. This wasn't our first choice when booking accommodations in Seward, but I'm glad we ended up here. We loved the privacy of having our own cabin, and the space was more than adequate for a couple traveling together. Our cabin had a bedroom, a dining space with mini fridge and coffee/tea maker, a bathroom with tub and toilet and a separate area with the sink. Word of caution: there is no TV. But that was a bonus for us. We didn't come to Alaska to watch TV, anyway. The office has wifi and free laundry after 4pm. Bonus: By staying here, we received a 10 percent discount on the Ididaride tour, which is owned by the same family. You can walk there from the cabins.

My first impression was that the pictures posted don't begin to show you how cute and wonderful these cabins are. I rank this as the #1 place we stayed in while in Alaska. Wonderful family and friendly.

If you don't expect a TV or any provisions beyond coffee, an excellent spot. Cabins are well-kept and attractive. Each is private, surrounded by trees and a good distance from the few neighboring cabins. There's a tranquil and secluded feeling.

Best of all, it's next-door to an Iditarod camp (whose staff oversees the cabins); my wife is a dog-lover, and the staff allowed us to tag along free of charge with a tour group to learn about the history and the dogs and hold the puppies and really do everything but the mushing. Overall, a great value.
