Overall, it's an okay place if you just need to find a place to stay overnight in Seward.

It's a place more like Airbnb, meaning it's like staying in a stranger's house, instead of a hotel. It's not a hotel or BnB.

The decoration is a little bit worn down. Nothing fancy. The towels in the bathroom didn't seem to be very clean so we didn't use. The kitchen comes with some basic amentities (coffee machine, plates, mugs, etc). A note on the fridge to remind you there will be a fee if you don't keep the kitchen/fridge in its original condition and if you leave food in fridge.

The owner asked the guests to leave the cash in the house when leaving, which is not very ideal. Of course, you can arrange time to meet the owner to pay with credit card (~5% surcharge for credit card), which is even inconvenient. We ended up leaving the money in the house because we didn't have time for the appointment.

We had a living room, kitchen, bath, and bedroom with queen bed, so lots of room to spread out and make our own meals. It is not perfect in terms of maintenance. The kitchen has some inconvenient drawers that are hard to open. It was very quiet and close to anything you need in Seward. Worked great for us!

We booked two nights stay at Seward at this place for the coming June vacation. The lady who manages the property changed our reservation from deluxe queen suite to regular queen suite without notice and refused to change it back to what we have booked. When we figured out that we have to change our itinerary and cancel the reservation due to Valdez hotels were all booked for our planned date, the lady insisted charging us $25 cancellation fee though we did not even sign the contract with them. The cancellation policy says "There is a $25.00 paper charge on all cancellations up until two weeks prior to arrival." However, we cancelled it three weeks before our check-in date and still been charged $25 without negotiation. This is fine until I saw I was actually billed $26.75 for the cancellation. Avoid this place at all cost as you might be scammed.

Room tip: Avoid at all cost

I am sorry, there seems to be an awful lot of misunderstandings in this review. First, deluxe queen suite and regular queen suite are basically exactly the same thing. They are the same price and the same set up. The only difference is that the sofa in the deluxe fold's out into a bed. Our nicest room with the best view is a queen suite, that is the room I had put these people in. Rooms with the fold out sofa are saved for people that need more then one bed. On booking.com they had actually booked the queen suite. I had taken the deluxe queen suites off booking.com because of people booking them for 2 people that did not need the fold out sofa. They still describe that there are 2 styles of suites in the basic description. But when you look at what is available, it only shows the queen suite. Also our cancellation policy reads: There is a $25.00 paper charge on all cancellations up until two weeks prior to arrival. So there is no scam here, just a guest that did not understand. I tried to explain these things to this guest on the phone, but to no avail. Sorry, management.

I cannot tell you how grateful we were to stay here during our 3 nights in Seward. We had just come from a rustic cabin in Denali and were looking forward to any place that had a bathroom attached. But I did not expect a completely furnished apartment for our use. We had everything we needed--movies to watch at night, board games to play if it was raining, and even an umbrella once our rain jackets got soaked through. The place has been updated dramatically from the pictures online. We ate in 2 of the 3 nights in the kitchen, which was a welcome break from constantly eating out. The location was also great, right in the heart of Seward, so we could walk to stores and cafes. It's also only a block from the bay, so I was able to walk down there and watch dawn break over the mountains (I didn't adjust well to the time change!).

Room tip: We stayed in #1, which has the best view of the mountains.
