This wonderful family owned business is a great place to stay in Seward. Clean, comfortable and the folks are very friendly, they even brought us homebaked cookies. It is in a good location close to the harbor and the grocery store. My family has stay there several times and loved it!!!!!

We were very happy with our rental of two units for three nights with Bear's Den. The owners were efficient and cheerful in handling the rental arrangements. Units are exceptionally clean and breakfast supplies were lovely. Seward is a wonderful little town for walking, for harbor cruise and kayaking, Because we had a van we could drive to hike near a glacier 8 miles out of town.

My husband and I got stuck in Seward for longer than we had originally planned because our Celebrity Millennium Cruise was cancelled after the ship broke down in mid-August. (It wasn’t until we were on our way to the airport to fly to Alaska that we found out about the cruise cancellation; thus it was necessary to change around some of our plans.) We stayed 2 nights at Bears Den prior to driving down to Homer for several days and then 3 more nights before we could get plane reservations out of Anchorage to fly home. As we learned, 5 nights in Seward is way too long, especially in the rain, but the hospitality of the proprietors of the Bears Den sure did help make this less painful. We forgot a bottle of wine in the refrigerator on our first nights at the B&B. What a nice surprise when we returned and the owner greeted us with warm cookies and our wine. Such a nice touch! We stayed in Den 1 which is a very large room, more like a suite, with large living area, great TV, super comfy chairs and sofa; dining area that easily sits 4, small kitchenette area and two Queen beds; and private bath. We also had a wonderful deck, which if it hadn’t poured the entire time we were there, would have been nice to use. There’s no homemade breakfast at this B&B, but the Den was well stocked with muffins, breads, bagels, cereals, and juices to put together yourself to get you going each morning. The freshly baked cookies on arrival are nice, too. The Bears Den is not located right in town but a short walk from it. This is OK, as long as it’s not pouring rain. There’s a free Seward town shuttle that runs past the Den that you can hop on and off at leisure, but again, you need to walk somewhat to those stops. If you have a car, it’s no problem. Besides its location to town, the only other caveat I think worth mentioning is that the Bean Den is not in a pretty location. In the frontground are mountains, yes, and you can see the water in the distance somewhat, but the B&B directly faces the junky back of a market and liquor store and there are two big gas stations to the right and left of the stores which the Den also looks onto. The pictures online only show the nice B&B itself; they neglect to show the less attractive surroundings.

We booked this place based on reviews from past travelers. We were not disappointed at all. We had all the privacy in our loft (Den #1). The owner came over to explain everything on the first day, we stayed here for 3 nights. Everything went smooth, we felt the privacy that we expected. This place is within walking distance to the nearby restaurants and the marina/harbor. The room had a small kitchenette with fridge and microwave. All breakfast items were pre-stocked and there was a nice big tv with lots of channels and 2 recliners and a sofa in addition to 2 big beds. The room was just big enough for a family of 4, we were only 2. We highly recommend this place, glad we stayed at a local person's place rather than at the Holiday Inn or any other hotel when we were in Seward. Pls go here...you will love it, book Den #1 on the 2nd floor facing the mountains/marina.

Loved our stay at Bear's Den! We stayed in the 3 bedroom cottage for 3 nights, and couldn't have been happier with our choice. Very clean, modern, well-stocked, and spacious. Great location, within walking distance to just about everything. Friendly, helpful owner too. You won't go wrong booking your Seward stay at Bear's Den!

We stayed in the upstairs Bear's Den 1 for 4 nights and we were delighted with our choice. Although it is a B & B it feels more like a serviced apartment (but with homely touches) which is exactly what we prefer. The accomodation was a very good size with 2 queen size beds, a large lounge area with TV, kitchenette area which included a microwave, toaster, coffee maker etc and a reasonable sized bathroom. There are windows on 3 sides with great views so there was always plenty of light which was lovely and they also had free WIFI which worked very well.
Being a B and B they supplied breakfast which was there on arrival and included orange juice, milk, cereal, bread, yoghurts, spreads and a large assortment of muffins and pastries (more than we could eat in 4 days).
Outside it had a large patio looking towards the water which would have been lovely in sunny weather (unfortunately we had drizzily rain on our 4 days), the location was perfect with an easy walk to supermarkets, the small boat harbor for Kenai Fjord tours and to restaurants with the township only a few minutes drive away.
We enjoyed the freshly baked chocolate chip cookies which arrived a few minutes after arrival.
This accomodation is great value for money.

We stayed two nights in the two bedroom unit with mini kitchen, and it was great. We loved that the location is in walking distance of restaurants, shops and tours. The rooms were cozy, comfortable and clean. We will be back when next we stay in Seward.
