“beautiful location with excellent hosts”
Reviewed July 22, 2009

Room was very nice with good space and a comfy bed. Only downfall was you had to go out of your room to use the (private) bathroom.
Hosts were very accomodating and knowledgeable on the area and things to see.
They fix ice cream snacks in the evening. Breakfast is light but nice (no protein).
On property activities.

This is a really nice place and the hosts are great. It's a beautiful setting on a small lake just a few miles north of Seward. It's quiet and very comfortable. It's very clean and there is a special ice cream treat every night.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights and it was amazing. The house was spacious and clean and the Perrys were wonderful hosts. We enjoyed kayaking on Bear Lake, the views were breathtaking. Don't miss the 8pm ice cream bars, they were delicious, thanks Dennis and Pat!! We look forward to coming back in the future.

We stayed at Bear Lake Lodging for two nights (July 5 and July 7) on both sides of an overnight cruise leaving from Seward. Our hostess Britta was incredibly helpful and answered all our questions about getting to our Kenai Fjords cruise on time. She is extremely knowledgeable! We enjoyed all our hosts, including the big old retriever Trooper. We had the Lakeside room one night and the Bear Lake Deck suite the other night - both were luxurious, with extra-comfy beds. The jacuzzi bath in Bear Lake Deck suite was especially welcoming, since the previous day we had hiked up to the top of Fox Island and our sore muscles really appreciated the soak! We made use of a canoe the first night there - saw a muskrat out on the creek. The breakfasts both days were quite nice - muffins hot from the oven. Really, the whole week was charmed - perfect weather, the Mt. Marathon crowds had moved on, and there weren't even very many mosquitoes. If your tastes run to adventures during the day and luxury accommodations at night, Bear Lake Lodging is perfect!

Our family stayed two nights at this B&B in Seward which is located in a lovely spot on Bear Lake. You can walk down to the weir and see the salmon jumping, very cool. You also are very close to Exit Glacier which is a must do and Exit Glacier Salmon Bake was our favorite restaurant, in fact we ate there both nights. At night at the B&B, you get homemade hand dipped chocolate covered ice cream bars, yummy! And while breakfast isn't big, we found it was enough to get us started. The rooms are lovely and comfy, definitely 5 stars!

I found Bear Lake Lodgings through the Alaska B and B wesbite (www.alaskabba.com) with a list of accredited b and bs. The price is very affordable for the area, the place is spotless and comfortable, and location is gorgeous. Our host's daughter was overseeing the lodge for the weekend and she was knowledgeable and friendly and kind enough to chat with me and my friend quite a bit. Bring mosquito repellent if you want to hang out on the deck, which is well worth it with a bottle of wine and sunlight until midnight. Good coffee in the morning, too.

I booked this B & B based on the reviews on TripAdvisor and I want to add to the compliments myself now that we've been. I traveled with my husband and 11 yr old daughter and we all had a wonderful stay with the Perrys. We were warmly greeted and made to feel very comfortable and welcome in their home. Trooper, the family dog, was also on hand to greet us, even singing on request!

The house is spacious, beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. Our room was on the 2nd floor of the 3 level house and had large windows overlooking the lake and a door leading to a large deck. The king size bed was very comfortable and my daughter loved the separate room right off the main room where she had her own space with a comfortable twin bed. The large bathroom was also spotless and had big soft towels and a whirlpool tub.

The lake is beautiful and the two float planes that were docked behind the home added to the perfect "Alaska" view. We saw eagles soaring overhead and land in the tree tops and families of birds swimming on the lake. The sun was up at 4am and didn't set until nearly midnight so we had 20+ hours of daylight to enjoy. The downside was we had to force ourselves to lower the blinds and go to bed each night.

The Perrys have lived in Alaska for many years and know the area and the entire state very well. They were very interesting to talk with and full of information, helping us plan the next portion of our Alaska stay.

We stayed for three nights and wished we could have stayed longer. We used Bear Lake Lodgings as our base for day trips to Whittier for a glacier cruise, the Ididaride Seavey Sled Dog experience, hiking to Exit Glacier, and general sightseeing in the Seward area. Overall, this portion of our trip was perfect, in large part because of our stay with the Perrys at Bear Lake Lodging.
