Owner description: Major Marine Tours offers two thrilling full day cruises into the Kenai Fjords National Park, where wildlife is abundant and tidewater glaciers are massive. Covering 120 miles, you can choose between a 6 hour or 7.5 hour tour, and all trips are hosted by a National Park Ranger. At the glaciers you'll often witness calving - a process by which glaciers shed giant blocks of ancient ice. This area is also home to a wide variety of animals including whales, sea lions, seals and sea otters, as well as an abundance of birds including puffins and eagles. You can enhance your experience with our Alaska salmon and prime rib buffet, freshly prepared on board the vessel. All guests are guaranteed reserved seating inside our heated cabins.

“Whales everywhere”
Reviewed June 5, 2014

We went on the 6 hr around end of May. It was absolutely wonderful, the crew was very friendly and the tour did not feel rushed, the captain waited patiently for us to view the whales. Also we went all the way to Aialik glacier and that was also very nice. We had around 20 different whale sightings in addition to dall purpoises, bald eagle, mountain goat. The park ranger was very good in explaining about the animals. My mom felt a bit seasick but recovered soon once we were on the glacier. The food/drinks on the ship were pretty cheap and nice.

“Return trip”
Reviewed June 5, 2014

I was excited to get another experience at this cruise again. First trip was a novel experience but this time I tried the whole work with lunch included. I did not get to see much wildlife on this widllife excursion but the cruise has other things to offer such as food and drinks and bigger boat and park ranger on board. We had a great time and my family loved it.

“Cannot imagine a more fantastic cruise!”
Reviewed June 5, 2014

My mother and I took this cruise out of Seward in connection with the train round trip from Anchorage. It was so awesome. We saw so many beautiful animals, birds, waterfalls, and rocky isolated islands. The glacier was amazing, We had just the right amount of time to watch the calving and saw some huge pieces slide off. There was an ice cave with a waterfall falling over it. As we were leaving the captain pointed out a bear making his way up the hillside! We saw lots of different whales, too. The fin whales were a surprise as they are quite rare and enormous. The meal was really good. I had the prime rib and it was done superbly. My mother had about three servings of salmon!!! It was a picture perfect day.

“Wildlife Watching Cruise”

Young and old, each and every person in our family enjoyed this amazing day touring Resurrection Bay. The captain was outstanding and the National Park Service guide was both knowledgeable and cheerful. The entire experience was a delight.

“Great Day Trip”
Reviewed June 5, 2014

We chose major marine because of the price and the optional lunch. We wanted to bring our own food and the other boat companies include the meal in the price. The boat was spacious and clean. The crew was courteous and friendly. The tour guide from the park service was excellent. The captain went out of his way to get photo ops with wildlife for us. They offered us a 20% discount on our next cruise. It was a great trip.
