This is not a luxury hotel, it is not a stylish / design / boutique hotel

Come here if..........
You want to be in a small get-away-from-the-crowds kind of environment
You enjoy friendly service
You love to be on the water
You dont have high expectaions
You have a car and want a base to explore the island

Dont come here if............
You are expecting a modern stylish luxury hotel
You are drawn to the gym and pool (gym pointless but good view, pool cold and terrible view)
You are looking for great food (breakfast awful) and nightlife
You want a spacious comfortable room (bed soft and back ache inducing)
The idea of a balcony appeals to you (tiny and overlooking the pool plus other houses)

The staff were wonderfully helpful and great english, but I was horribly dissapointed with the hotel itself, and wish we had booked with a cancellation option as I would have definitly checked out.

Room Tip: back have a tiny balcony front overlook the water but no balcony

We stayed at the Korkyra Hotel for a night before catching a ferry to Hvar! We actually wished we had booked two days as the hotel was excellent! One of the best hotels we stayed in during our trip! The staff were friendly, the rooms were modern and clean. Food was great! plenty of choice at the buffet! For what we paid for the stay, it was great value for money!!

We too, as someone else had said, found the glass bathroom a bit weird! you can see the WC from the bed through the mirror! A bit of a design fault! They did however have blinds which covered the glass section to provide more privacy! Nevertheless, Would definitely go back again perhaps for a longer stay! P.s. If you are catching the ferry across to Hvar, the ferry stop is 5 minutes down the road! VERY CONVENIENT!

Firstly the clean modern rooms were a massive treat! We felt it was fantastic value for money if you compared the quality of a hotel like this if it was placed anywhere else.

Yes this hotel is on the 'wrong' side of the island so do be aware if you want to have a more nightlife maybe not to stay here but we loved it! Boats came in everyday with long touring travellers so we met people from all over.

There is a lovely pool but we are more sea swimmers and the hotel gives you a free taxi ticket to take the boat to the other side of the bay where no boats are allowed the water is AMAZING cold clear not a spot of rubbish. Incredibly quiet and not over populated.

Pizzeria Alfa a short walk from the hotel is possibly the best pizza I have ever had.

Breakfast the hotel was continental, did the job.

Overall made the trip pretty perfect for us.

This is a very new hotel on the quayside. The rooms are clean but the one we were in had a major design defect. The bathroom is walled in glass, and although the shower area has blinds to protect your modesty from your room-mate there is a huge mirror on the wall that allows you to see your partner on the W.C. when you are on the bed. Very odd! I don't know if all the rooms are like this but when we were talking to a waiter at a local restaurant he said he had heard similar stories. The pool is very good and there is a brilliant fitness suite on the top floor with various machines and a sauna and steam room. However, the breakfasts are not great. Overall it is a good hotel but slightly quirky.

We stayed in July.. Sorry for the late review! The hotel was brilliant, clean, new, trendy, great location. The staff- some we're grumpy and some were lovely- esp Jelica on reception who speaks great English and would do anything for you. Mario and the lady in the restaurant were lovely as well. The food was good as well. The room was kept clean and the bed was comfy and we slept well, plasma tv, minibar. The gym was really new and had aircon, there was also a sauna. The outside pool was big enough to have a swim and was clean and looked after. If you come out of the hotel and turn left there is a bar where you can sit outside and watch the sunset which is lovely. The beaches are man made which is a shame, but the water is clean and clear. We didn't find the locals that friendly!

Room Tip: I think we were on the 3rd floor and looked out over the road and could see the water, it was nice.

I booked Hotel Korkyra in Vela Luka because it was recommended by a good friend as an excellent hotel in a pleasant Croatian village. The very good remarks on tripadvisor also seemed to reconfirm that notion. Well, that just proofs how tastes can be different.
The hotel is not very hard to find, just a few hundred meters away from the ferry port right next to the street leading to the village. The village itself being nothing special, in my views that last option on the whole island which has much more beautiful sites to offer (like Korcula or Prizba). There is a parking across from the hotel – right in the plain sun (would have been nice if they could have provided some shade there).
On arrival the staff, which was very professional and helpful throughout our entire stay, upgraded us to a superior room. The room was really nice, spacious, with a big and modern bathroom – but it faced the street (with the romantic views directly on the gas station across) and it had no balcony. Back on the reception I was told all suites face the main street and none of them has a balcony. Whoever has planned that, I thanked them very much for the offer but preferred the standard room instead. This was much smaller indeed but functional, it faced the inner part of the hotel with a (ridiculously small) balcony. At this point I have to mention that the entire hotel does not offer any direct sea-views. If you are lucky you can see the ferry and industrial port (no need to set the alarm clock, the 7h clock ferry will wake you up with its decent horn). The inner part of the hotel is not completely closed up so you do face and hear the roads and bars around. The windows however are very well sound proof. If you close them you hear nothing.
Rooms have air condition which you can regulate, the bathroom is functional but there are some black spots (fungi?) on the shower cell which did not really drain well and the hand shower fell on my head when I wanted to attach it (I had a screwdriver with me so I could fix the problem myself). One night the air-condition smelled awful (I don’t tell you here exactly how), the receptionist could not tell me why, but the problem did not appear again. Still, these things should not occur in a four star hotel. The rooms as the whole hotel was quite clean besides the radiators opposite the toilet, which were never cleaned and full of dust. The hallway was covered by a carpet so you do not hear other guests when the leave or come to the rooms. Walls seemed also OK, I never heard anything from other rooms.
The hotel has a spa area (which I did not use) and a swimming pool. At night you can have your dinner next to the pool, which is really nice. We had half-pension which made quite sense. The dinner was very good for a hotel and the offer almost too plentiful (you can select a couple of salads, cold and warm starters, a soup, a main dish and a desert, the latter three served to you by the always very friendly and professional waiters). Breakfast, too was plentiful and very good. No complains at all about that.
The big disappointing was the so called “hotel beach”. A small boat brings you to the other side of the small bay (takes around three minutes, walking would be half an hour). The “beach” consist of concrete blocks, what may before have been a pebble beach (at least there are pebbles in the water) without any charm at all, unless you enjoy the techno music you are bombarded with by the young bored waiters. On top of everything you are charged the beach chairs extra! This is absolutely ridiculous for a “hotel beach” as it was offered. Anyways, that “beach” never saw me again. Just next to it are a couple of nicer small stony sea entries in an area full of nice spacious private accommodations (that cost less then a third compared to the hotel, by the way) with nice looking big balconies directly facing the sea.
Another downside is the lack of a wireless Internet connection. The hotel provides one (!) computer in the lobby and Ethernet cables in the rooms (which was of no help for my iPad). I did not use the Internet in the hotel but enjoyed free wireless connection in a bar one block away from the hotel

My resume: This is a modern –inside stylish- hotel with friendly staff and good food. Location, the so-called beach, lack of wireless internet and the very high price are the biggest downsides for me. If it has to be a hotel and if you stay one or two nights it may be an option, if you are willing to pay the price.

Room Tip: the superior rooms face a busy road and have no balconies

From the moment I arrived I found the staff to be most welcoming and all had very good English. There was always a warm greeting at the front desk and in the bar area with smiles all around, even at the end of a busy summer season. The hotel has an excellent location in the centre of Vela Luka from where visitors can discover beautiful walking paths, hire bicycles, scooters or cars. The summer season had just ended so the hotel and town were pretty quiet but that suited me. I hired a car for two days to tour the island (30 miles long and 5 miles wide approx.) and was really refreshed leaving.
The down-side is the difficulty of access. I flew to Dubrovnik airport, took a bus to the city, and another to Korcula Island. There is only one bus there each day, at 3.00 p.m. and it takes about 5 hours including stops. The only bus leaving the island for Dubrovnik was at 5.15 a.m.! Apparently it is easier to reach by ferry from Split. Still, the hotel had a packed breakfast waiting for me as I left at 5.00 a.m. to end a wonderful experience.
My abiding memory of this hotel is the wonderful staff who did so much to make the stay enjoyable, even teaching me some Croatian.

Room Tip: Top floor has a beautiful view out to sea and it's where the fitness area is located.
