“A lovely hotel”

Our "big" holiday was in March to India (a two week tiger safari) which is our usual type of holiday. We wanted a relaxing holiday where we could do as little or as much as we wanted. We had been to Croatia several years ago (Cavtat) and was impressed with the scenery and friendliness of the people.

We flew to Split from Gatwick and the transfer to Tucepi takes about an hour to an hour and a half depending on the time of day.

On arrival at the hotel we had a genuine, friendly welcome from the staff (something that appears to be lacking in a lot of hotels around the world) and a welcome drink. Our room (room 108) was enormous. It could easily be used as a family room.

The hotel must be one of the cleanest we have ever stayed in. It has to be said that every where we went (inside and out) the standard of cleanliness was very high.

Check out the hotel's website - the virtual tour feature gives a real feel of the high standards you will experience.

I have only rated the sleep quality a three as the church bells ringing at 6am did wake us up!! As Tucepi is a relatively small village this problem will be experienced wherever you stay.

Definitely recommended.

This is a small hotel situated in an ideal position just 50 metres from the beach.
The staff are genuinely ready to help and very efficient.
Our room 407 was classed as a "side sea view". Being on the top floor (4th) it was perfect with a balcony which gave lovely views and stunning sunsets.
Everything about this hotel was clean and pleasent. We only had breakfast which was well presented with omlette, sausage, cold meats etc etc.
Tucepi has plenty of local resturants on the seafront close to the water with good food and wine.
Our visit in early September gave unusual highs of 30 degrees sunshine, and with not an english football top in sight, the beach was as relaxing in the day as the restuarants were in the night. Just perfect for us.

Room Tip: Ask for 407 which is quiet with good views

Just returned from a week at the Hotel Villa Marija, a small friendly hotel. We were late arriving but they served us a meal in the restaurant with a welcome drink. All the meals were good and we had an especially good evening hosted by the owners at their own property. The bedrooms were spacious and the bathroom also, which was modern and clean. The balcony was only small, and some more draw space would be usefull. Our balcony overlooked the mountains which were stunning as the sun was setting. The only down side is the fact that the roof terrace in only small, has no shade and not particularly pleasant, so there was no where to `lounge` during the day, the lights in the dining room were better when they were dimmed,( a bit too cafeteria look) but they only did this on one occasion, pity. Tucepi is a quite resort, nicest of the ones we visited, and the sea to dye for!

Room Tip: It appeard those at the side of the hotel had a larger balcony

My daughter( aged 11) and I spent 10 nights half board at Hotel Villa Marija and had a wonderful time.
We arrived very late in the evening and there were plates of food waitnig for us in the room as well as a complimentary drink each. The room was a good size, although balcony quite small we had a sea view and the sun was on the balcony for most of the day. We both really enjoyed the food and found there was pleny of variety especially on the Buffet night which was more like a banquet.
There were hardly any other English people at the hotel however this did not bother us at all as all the guests staying there were very friendly. I would definatly recomend this hotel. Location very central and Tucepi itself is a lovley resort

My friend and I - both 60 (ish) stayed at this lovely family run hotel for a week in May 2008 while our husbands were on a golfing break in Spain.
It was our second trip to Croatia, having previously stayed in Porec (Istria) - which we loved.
However we were certainly not disappointed with the Hotel or location. The hotel is spotlessly clean with a lovely terrace to enjoy an after dinner coffee or brandy and we had a very pleasant room with small balcony on the top floor - where we could enjoy the view out to sea and up to the mountains. We took the half board option which worked out to be very economical, with a small but very enjoyable choice of meals each evening. On one evening we were invited to swap our evening meal at the hotel for a group meal of local specialities at the owner's home in the hills above Tucepi. We were so glad that we accepted the offer (at a small supplement). A coach was provided and we had such a lovely evening with gorgeous food and sea views from the terrace, together with excellent company of various nationalities. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and made our stay even more pleasant.
We loved Tucepi and the weather in May was ideal for us, being very pleasantly hot but not as oppressive as I understand it may be in July/August.
One day we walked across the headland to Makarska which is also a very pleasant resort although larger and more commercialised and on other days we caught the local buses to other pleasant resorts along the coast. The coastline of the Makarska riviera is lovely with the most turqoise sea and lots of of pretty restaurants to choose from in the resorts.
I would recommend a day trip to the old town of Split, as the world heritage site of the Diocletian Palace is well worth seeing and you could combine it with a visit to the old , cobbled town of Trogir on the coast near to Split.
We would love to stay here again in the future and hopefully will do but Croatia is so gorgeous that we would also like to visit other resorts.
Incidentally, my friend has slight mobility problems but we enjoyed strolling along the pretty and flat promenade in an evening after our meal and as this small hotel has a lift there were no problems.

My parter and I (both 25) have just had a fantastic holiday in Tucepi, Croatia. Villa Marija completely outdid our expectations, fantastic small family run hotel, It looked nicer than all other hotels in Tucepi. All the staff are beyond friendly and helpful and the food was fantastic. We were worried they only had an indoor pool but the beautiful beach is 70 meters away! Tucepi is very sweet - small but sweet, with Podgora an Makaska near by. Great location though for exploring. We did day trips to Dubrovnik, Brac, Hvar, Mljet and Korcula so there's plenty to do.

We couldnt recommend this country or hotel more!
