Quite a spectacular thing to do, but don't go up if you have vertigo. It's also pretty knackering though!

This is the 2nd largest wall after the great wall of China. It was built to protect a medieval salt farm that is still in operation. There is very little promotion for it, we just stumbled across it. The climb is pretty strenuous, only parts of the wall are restored and accessible. There were 4 of us so we split up, 1 couple started in Mali Ston and the other in Ston, we met on top and traded car keys so we could drive around and pick them up.

Ston is made up of two villages linked by a defensive wall which goes across a mountain! Both villages are beautiful and there looked to be good street cafes and restaurants. The walls are being restored and there was a shorter route you could do up to a small fortress if the longer route to the other village was too far - lots of grueling steps on the complete city wall walk.

We love to walk city walls and this is a corker for its sheer length. Love that it goes all the way down to Mali Ston, a picturesque port, through a dramatic fort. Also love that it's being renovated, worth the effort.
