Description: You can find restaurant Bota Sare, Mali Ston in narrow center waterfront, situated within the old castle. Wide palette of fresh fish, unique oysters, shellfish is prepared as per original local recipes that bring finger licking food to your table (ask for gradele, popara, buzara, brudet). Do not miss to try local risotto, black risotto, and homemade bread from natural fire heated oven. We also invite you to take a boat trip to see Ston's Bay and to visit the place where the Sare family is growing shellfish close to the Banje Island which is owned by family Sare and family Matkovic. On Banje Island there is a large number of various Mediterranean herbs and over 200 olive threes which provide the olive oil for Bota restaurants. The experience of visiting the island will be improved by the special program which can be prepared in advance. For many different possibilities, please consult the restaurant Manager Tomislav Šare.

My wife and I visited this restaurant the second time now and were delighted with their food and service again. This place has a big terrace and an even more interesting part on the inside as it is housed in an original medieval castle. The food we had was great: fresh oysters from their own production, followed by grilled oysters that were exquisite, moist with a touch of smoke and a bit parlsey and virgin olive oil. We also had some grilled scallops. For the main course we enjoyed a fresh John Dory blanched in some fish broth and served with a bit of broth-bioled potatoes and carrots. We finished this meal off with some nice local crem-caramel called "rožata". We will be back to Bota.

Went with a group of 4 friends in September after 4 of us had walked the walls in Ston and made it over the mountain to the still being restored fort at Mali Ston before heading here for a much needed drink and late lunch. As always the fish was amazingly fresh, the oysters were delicious and we all had a huge Bota fish platter, which almost defeated us with the generous portions of assorted fish and shellfish. Not cheap but this was our "treat" meal for this holiday and as such it didn't disappoint.

We came just minutes after the restaurant was open, so we had to wait a bit for food. In the meantime, chilled travarica was served. We had oysters in 3 different ways, all delicious and shells made in Dalmatian way. Good red wine and macaroni tart for dessert! Very good!

Terrace setting gives you the impression to be dining with a horde of other tourists (as it is quite big and there are no separations - and they usually have some groups).

Would not recommend the black risotto as we came to the conclusion it was rather boiled rice with the ink mixed thereafter. That said, other things where good (basic traditional menu).

My fish soup was bland --- a chicken noodle soup color with rice and a few specks of fish. The octopus salad was pretty good. My wife had a mixed mussel plate, which was good, but not as good as we are used to getting in California. Overall, we found the restaurant to be average, not outstanding as some of the other reviewers have described.
