“The place to stay!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2012

We stayed at this hotel three years ago and loved it. This year we stayed in Waikoloa because we needed a condo to accomodate our family, but on our last day when we had to vacate the condo at 10 a.m. and our flight wasn't until midnight, we decided to rent a room at the Kind Kamehameha Hotel for the day. They were so kind and friendly. We checked in around 2 p.m. and used the room to freshen up then after dinner we came back to the room to repack and get ready to leave for the airport. The room was spotless and appealing in its decor. Next trip to Hawaii, we will stay here (I love the quaintness of Kona compared to the "upscale" of Waikoloa) even if it means eating out instead of cooking.

The room we enjoyed at the Courtyard was large, comfortable and up-to-date. The hotel is within walking distance to everything in Kona and the main pier, where almost every water excurison debarks from, is right a your door step. The hotel has a private cove that feeds into the ocean and provides a very sheltered swimming area. We did not eat in the hotel dining room, but there is an ABC store in the attached mall (many vacanies however). Splashers Grill- featuring fish tacos and many other items- is directly across the street and opens early for breakfast.

We encountered no issues with the staff.

Room Tip: The best rooms would be in the rear building since they would not overlook the roof of the conventio...

The King Kamehameha Kona Beach Hotel has a beautiful spa. The amazing staff went the extra mile to be helpful and accommodating to us. I can't wait to return to experience more of what the spa has to offer.

I've found that the Marriott brand seems to consistently provide great facilities. This hotel is no exception. It is in a great location adjacent to the pier with a small beach beside the hotel. My room was on the 6th floor with partial ocean view and it was beautiful. There is a coffee shop and an ABC convenience store on-site. The hotel is also within walking distance of several shops and restaurants including the Kona Brewing Company, Splashers Grill, and Bubba Gump. There's an open market 5 minutes down the road where you can buy fresh fruits and is open every day except Sunday. We also stumbled upon a street fair which apparently occurs every 3rd Sunday of the month. A portion of Ali'i Drive is blocked and dozens of vendors display their goods which range from handmade soaps to jewelry to food. The hotel itself is clean and bright. The rooms are well maintained and have a big flat screen tv and mini fridge. The bathroom is small but nice. My bathroom had a little bit of a funny smell but nothing I worth complaining about. The parking at the hotel is $10/night + 0.42 in taxes. All in all I would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: The west tower has the ocean and partial ocean views.

My daughter and I just got back home, we spent four nights at this hotel and would highly recommend it. The location was ideal, close to shopping and restaurants, and the beach was terrific, we rented a paddleboard and snorkle equipment right there on the beach and went snorkelling in the bay where the hotel was. The staff at the front desk and concierge staff were all friendly, helpful and attentive, our room was quiet, we had an ocean front room on the third floor, used our AAA card and saved $20 per night. We used the fitness centre and enjoyed the free yoga class Monday morning. My only suggestion would be for the restaurant to offer a wider range of healthier selections and more vegetarian options as well.

Room Tip: Ocean front room on the third floor not only had a great view but was very quiet and felt private, e...

My husband and I have returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel. Overall we had a great time. The rooms were well maintained you can not fault the modern decor of the carpets, wall hangings, bed spreads and furniture. The bathroom although small is also really nice. Only complaint was our air-con did not work well, also there were no in-house movies available in the room which was disappointing and no mini-bar. The hotel had a great bar and pool area, just what we look for in a hotel, it served typical America food which was great if you could not be bothered heading to a restaurant the pool itself was great. The service at the bar was hit and miss, i once had to wait 25 minutes for service. however the one bar tender which was fantastic was Pam, great service every time. The hotel also had front access to the beach which was great. I used the gym facilities every morning and they provided all the equipment I needed. The morning breakfast buffet was also really good. The best part of the hotel is its location to the Main Street which allowed for easy access at restaurants and shops in the area.

After spending 5 nights at a lovely resort in Waikoloa, we decided to spend 2 nights right in Kona. We didn't expect much from the Marriott Courtyard as the prices were very reasonable, but we were pleasantly surprised by everything. Our room was very comfortable and even had a refrigerator & coffee maker. We also had a lovely few of the harbor. I like to work out in the morning, and the hotel gym was really nice with both aerobic equipment and weights. The pool and beach areas were also very nice, and we enjoyed some tasty drinks at the pool bar. The overall hotel service was excellent, and the staff very friendly. Finally, the location is awesome. We could quickly walk to many restaurants and bars all over Kona. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a reasonably priced, convenient hotel in Kona.

Room Tip: West tower ocean view is probably best - less street noise and awesome views.
