“great breakfast”
Reviewed November 1, 2012

Had the Paddler's taco breakfast. Came with the most amazing salsa to put on the egg tacos. My Waitress was very friendly, and I like that I got a large glass of water instead of a small dixie cup full. Coffee was 'free' with the meal... nice to have a full carafe at your table.
Great views! Only detractor was the traffic noise, as you're overlooking the street.

“Great food, terrible bartender”
Reviewed November 1, 2012

Had to wait a few minutes for a table so decided to sit at the bar for a drink. Four or five minutes passes before bartender comes to say hello and takes drink order. He then proceeds to make other drinks, hand out receipts for other customers at the bar. This goes on for several minutes until my table is ready. Still no drink and it wasn't even busy. I get up and was shown to my table. Nice waiter comes over and offers to take any drink order. About ten to fifteen minutes after sitting down at the bar I receive my simple drink. What a joke!
The menu looked really nice and reasonably priced. Had the Beef Stroganoff and loved it. Very well made.
I would have rated better but the lack of decent service from the bartender with the long hair was a total turn off.

“Great place!”
Reviewed October 31, 2012 via mobile

While shopping in Kona we decided to try Splashers...so glad we did. It has been the best meal and one of the best values of our week. Drinks are good, manager is very nice, and the Sweet and Sassy burger was amazing!! A must if near the main shopping area of kona.

“Nice staff, good food, good location”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

Splasher's has a great 2nd floor dining area, so that you can people watch on the busy street below, and also enjoy the waves/water, across the street. Very nice waitstaff, good drinks. On our fist visit, we had some great spaghetti; we found our best bet here, was to go with the daily specials. We'd had enough fish in HI, and really enjoyed the generous portion of pasta. It came with a very basic, but good salad. The manager came to our table, and we had a great conversation; very engaging young lady, who had moved to the area to be near her Dad.
Two days later, we decided we needed more "non seafood" ish food again, and had seen a man enjoying a ribeye steak, on our first visit, so we went back to Splashers. It seemed though we were not destined to eat steak that night, as we had to send our steak back 3 times; the first time, it was nearly raw, though the little plastic indicator stuck in the steak said "medium", which is exactly how we had asked that it be cooked.. The second time, one end was cooked more, but the other end was still way too rare, and the thrid time, the entire steak was so overdone, it was inedible.
However, our waitress was very gracious, and another young man, maybe a shift manager, and then, the general manager, all visited our table during this process; they were all apologetic and gracious. Each time they brought the steak back, they had replenished the great loaded mashed potatoes, so we surely didn't starve! Not only that, after we declined the steak on the thrid try, the manager came to say that our entire meal, including drinks, was going to be comped, and she offered us two free meals (though we had been sharing the steak dinner), for the next time we could visit the restaurant.
We had to decline this very generous offer, as our HA flight left for Maui too early to enjoy breakfast with them. We were truly satisified with their high level of customer service, and recommend trying some of their great food and drinks.
Any establishment can make mistakes, it is how they Handle it, that counts, and Splashers did a 5 star job of customer service, in every aspect.
We will surely visit, next time we are this area.

“Busy place, slow service, but decent food”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

We ate here on our first night in Kona. We checked into our hotel which is across the street from the restaurant then walked to dinner. I liked that it was on the 2nd story of the building so you had great views of the ocean. The atmosphere was relaxed and staff was super friendly. I ordered the fish with shrimp sauce and found that it was really tasty. My husband had a burger and fries and our buddy had the clam chowder. The clam chowder was superb! We almost came back just for the chowder it was that good. It was filled with tons of clams in that creamy soup. The only complaint is that the service was slow. I think our waitress probably had too many tables so she was running around so much that we had to get a refill of our beers from the bar tender and she simply forgot a couple of items that we requested. The service wasn't so slow that we complained about it but it's something to remember if you are on a tight schedule.
