We were recently in kona and did the manta ray dive, manta ray snorkel, 2 tank morning dive and a dolphin swim.

The locations, equipment, dive masters, boat captains etc were all excellent and I highly recommend them.

“Very helpful and knowledgeable staff”
Reviewed August 22, 2014 via mobile

Big Island Divers was able to squeeze my group of 3 at the very last minute for a night snorkeling tour with Manta Rays. We ran late for the 5pm check in and a staff member called us to check if we on our way. They patiently waited for my group to arrive and helped us set up with a wet suit. They provide all the gear needed for the snorkeling trip but we brought our own. For $99 they include the wet suit rental, snorkeling gear, snacks and non-alcoholic beverages.

Before we jumped in the water, the staff gave us a little background about the Manta Rays and instructions when snorkeling.

Snorkeling with the Manta Rays is a must-do activity in the Big Island. There were about 4 Mantas that showed up that night, each of them were about 10 feet wide, wing to wing. I swam within 5 inches from a manta ray. Although we aren't suppose to touch them, being that close to them gave me a good view of their physiology. Needless to say, it was an exhilarating experience.

“An absolute pleasure”
Reviewed August 22, 2014 via mobile

I went with a family of 6. They were able to accommodate us on hhh out notice (3 days in advance). We did four dives for the certified divers in our group in one day which were fantastic. Corinne was the dive master for our 2 morning dives and she was incredibly patient with us. The captain in the morning, Andrew, was also amazing. He found false killer whales and followed them for a bit so that everyone on the boat could see them. It was wonderful seeing these rare creatures in the wild and he also found the spinning dolphins which were great. The whole crew was really enthusiastic.
The manta dive at night was really unique and fantastic. Those animals get really close to you and it's unlike anything you've ever experienced. The dive master was Jonathan - who gave us a great briefing of the dives for the evening. Jess worked with the snorkelers and she was very knowledgeable about the manta rays. Her and Eric (evening captain) both had great senses of humor which just made for an exceptional experience.

“Professional, helpful and fun.”
Reviewed August 21, 2014

BID were able to squeeze me in on some dives at the last minute. Well-organized boat, helpful crew and good dive briefings. Friendly and chatty shop staff too. The boats are big and were full while I was there (busy time of year), and although I prefer smaller groups, it didn’t feel overcrowded.

If you love strange critters, the blackwater dive is a must. Although the concept is a touch scary, the captain and DM (sorry, can’t remember their names) did an excellent job of running this dive, and it was definitely the highlight of my trip.

“Amazing!!”
Reviewed August 21, 2014

Our family of 4 went out yesterday with Big Island Divers and had a lovely experience! Our captains were Scott and Sam and our Dive Masters were Corinne and Colin. The entire crew was very professional and fun-loving. We got into a bit of a sticky spot with currents during our first dive and the crew handled the situation with complete care making sure all divers were safe and taken care of. On our trip we were able to see an array of incredible sea life including a manta, jelly fish, lots of eels, dolphins, along with an array of beautiful fish.
Would absolutely recommend this company to anyone looking for an incredible diving experience!
