After touring most of the islands and beaches, this was by far our favorite beach! Not a ton of parking, so make sure you get there early, or be patient. Only 10 minutes north of Kona. EVERYTHING we needed bathrooms, showers, white sands, good waves for kids to play in, clearest water, and snorkeling. 3 turtles swam around the half day we were there, so thankfully no one had scared them away. I missed this beach after we left and I will surely be back just to see this place again!

This beach is fantastic! The crisp white sand and easy access to the water with no shells or lava rocks to maneuver over makes this a must do while on the big island! The water is every color of blue and it is truly beautiful. Parking was on pavement but you do need to walk down some sand and rocks to get to the beach ~ so probably not taking grandma to this location.

Staff at our hotel recommended this beautiful beach not too far from the Kona airport. It was easy to find and we got great parking, even in the early afternoon. The restrooms are clean and really well-maintained and there are stairs that make the beach easy to access. The day we went the waves were pretty rough, but it was beautiful with plenty of room to swim. If you want to spend all day here we'd recommend coming early and bringing your umbrella as there is not much cover.

Manini’owali Beach is located at the end of a paved road off the main highway, and is a favorite place for many folks... there’s a gate which controls vehicle access to this state park (with restrooms and showers found near the beach too). Because of its popularity, you might want to arrive early to get a decent parking spot... the beautiful waters of Kua Bay there are definitely worth checking out :)

This beach is pretty easy to find with map apps, and parking is easy. Restrooms make it comfortable. The beach itself is far less rocky than many areas so it's easy walking across the sand. We did see a few folks open water swimming further out (perhaps training for the Ironman?). Waves are smaller but good for boogie boarding and shouldn't overwhelm smaller kiddos. Just remember your reef safe sunscreen!
